Arrived in late from Istanbul to a friendly and swift checkin. We had initially ordered a twin room, but none were left (which wasn't a big deal to us - it happens!) but we were given a double plus another fixed bed was moved in, which was a nice change from the usual rollaway that is brought in. The next day, we were moved to an upgraded room, which was an even nicer surprise! The breakfast buffet was superb, with a wide range of Western and local options. The staff were all very friendly, especially Nadia, who always made us feel welcome at breakfast every morning - I always like it when the staff recogise you. She also organised two tours for us, including one at the last minute, which was much appreciated. As a tourist, I would not say the location of Ain el-Mreisseh is ideal, with most things being a fair walk away including restaurants - there are a limited number a couple of minutes walk away on the corniche, however there is better variety in Hamra, which is a 10 minute uphill walk away - not usually a big deal, but after a big day of touring the city and beyond, it would be nicer to have more variety closer. The pool and gym were superb, though the staff down there (who I don't think were hotel staff) were not particularly pleasant, and seemed more interested in talking to their friends than serving customers. Would definitely stay at this hotel again!

I have stayed many times in this hotel and all I can say is that the service provided is completely fantastic. I have never met a staff member I wasn't impressed with. From reception to the conceirge to the waitors and cleaners. The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with redecoration but the friendly and attentive staff more then make up for this. The food is also of a very high standard and the location is fantastic.

Pros
[1] The gave us a complimentary upgrade to a Business class room - bathrobes, access to Club lounge, wired access to Internet etc
[2] Free WiFi in lobby
[3] All the staff were lovely
[4] Proximity to the restaurant Casablanca otherwise nothing much nearby.
[5] Big room

Cons
[1] Rooms & common areas are really tired. It needs a complete make over
[2] Downtown is a bit soulless. No nice bars or restaurants nearby
[3] The security requirements were a little unsettling. Your bags have to be scanned as you go into the lobby. Basically you have to go through airport security to get into the hotel. Also there is a 24 hour army presence directly across the road from the hotel. I gather this is because the hotel is used by UNIFIL.
[4] We were in room 308. It had no view to speak of, rather it had a view of a car park.

If you have a choice stay on Hamra main road or Achrafieh.

Some useful info on taxis
A taxi to or from the airport to the hotel should cost 15 USD.

Taxis from the hotel to Gemayzeh & Achrafieh should be around 10k Lebanese pounds. So always start from there. If they look for more just walk away & ask the next taxi driver for a price. In nearly every case the previous taxi driver will come running after you saying that 10k is fine. I think we had to pay 12K only once & that was at 2am in the morning. Also tipping taxis is not a necessity. What is always necessary is to ask for a price before you sit into the taxi.!!!

I got my hair cut & colored in the hotel salon. It cost 70 USD. None of the staff spoke English or French [only Arabic] so the experience while good value was unnerving.

very clean and comfortable room. Nice indoor swimming pool. Good location 15minute walk to shopping centre. 5 mins to corniche. Taxis readily available and hotel car for airport transfers for small cost. Staff were very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel. Reception staff very helpful with organising tours.
The only disappointments were the food from the one restaraunt and no wireless in room. We had to go to the lobby.

Room Tip: We had a business class room which had no view at all. The way the hotel is sited - I dont think the...

Good 5 star hotel - bit old compared to other Radisson Blu's but all the required amenities are available. We were upgraded to a Business Class room which was large and clean and had very fast internet (compared to other places in Beirut)

A negative is that we found blood on one of the pillows when they changed out bedding the following day. We complained and they immediately changed the bedding again for us.

The gym has the all the required equipment and although I did not use the pool the gym overlooked it and it was large and clean (and indoors).

This is a good hotel to stay in and you wont be disappointed if you are looking for a clean hotel which offers 5 star accommodation and great service. Although it does not have beach access I believe they do offer this via another hotel.

This is an adequate hotel in a good location. The decor and furniture is a little tired and it could do with a refurbishment. The staff were excellent though and very helpful. The business centre was useful and I enjoyed the free drinks at happy hour. Cleanliness is good and the beds were comfortable.

The price is a little high for what it is (I would rate it 3 or maybe 4 stars at most) but that seems to be the market rate in Beirut.

I've been visiting this hotel since 2001 and I love it. The area, the rooms, breakfast in the restaurant below. It's centrally located and you can walk down town. Probably 20min to Place d'etoile with all restaurants and sheesha places. The hotel pool is fantastic, very Phoenician. A very romantic hotel for a weekend stay or business.
