The ambiance is as it always was, very nice. Service is fairly attentive, and table settings are gorgeous. The hostess in particular was very friendly, and everyone did their part to make for a pleasant stay.
The menu has changed since the last time we visited. The appetizers covered a range of foods, but the mains were 7-8 steak variations plus 1 sea bass and 1 mixed seafood option. It seemed more a steak house menu than the seafood place this has always been.
The amuse bouche was a gorgeous seared scallop which we adored. However, seared scallop is also an appetizer option, and it happened to be the option we choose, so we ended up with 2 courses of scallops. Both versions were quite different, but in the end, they were both scallops. We absolutely loved them, but would have preferred an amuse bouche different from our appetizer.
For our mains we both had the sea bass, with a lemon butter sauce and some veggies. Overall it was fantastic, but needed some basic seasoning. The bass was cooked to perfection, as were the veggies, and once we added salt, pepper and lemon, it was perfect in taste too. There was plenty of sauce and it was tasty. However, the veggies were a bit too large to eat in one bite, and a bit too al dente to cut with a fish knife, so we ended up struggling a bit.
My chocolate souffle for dessert was the best I've ever had. The top had just a little crunchy-chewy action going on, and the middle was light, warm and gorgeous. My husband's chocolate-orange cake was also very good.
The pacing was a little fast for us. This was a romantic night out, and we wanted to savor it, but the service was quite quick with our appetizers and mains. Happily we had a little pause before we ordered dessert, and again before dessert arrived, so it did improve as we went along.
We will absolutely go back. The food is top notch, small details aside.
