Well, I think so! This has to be my new favorite place to stay not just in Qatar but period. The service is great. The rooms are reasonable (for Doha) and the decor is perfection. I like the mix of people in the lobby, bar and restaurants. Like I said...can one really love a hotel?

in some way WWWWired, in the room WWWWWay to cold but stylish and trendy hotel.

The room was chilled like a freezer, curtains were closed but i guess 'dark' is a part of the concept. Coming from the gym there were guests coming out of the restaurant arguing with the manager that the place is to dark and all he tried is to 'enlighten them' bringing them candles.

Gym equipment could be better chosen, Technogym has to difficult and non responsive menus, on top of it the treadmill stops abrupt after your timer set.

The staff is overall very young, as such career motivated, smiling, friendly, sometimes with a healthy sometimes a less healthy attitude. Still refreshing compared to some other experiences.

The internet that was announced free is charged ....although reasonably charged.

Surprising was that alcohol can't be served in the lobby in such a hotel.

Dinner in the Spice restaurant was poor. Athmosphere too dark but some people surely like this, the starter was quite nice but the main course way not up to standard. Worst was the service and kitchen not able to serve 5 dishes at the same time....

we have recently spent a week in Doha staying at the W Hotel. I'ts position is right in the middle of the city centre giving easy access to all ammenities. The nearest shopping centre is within a five minute walk and here you will also find a taxi service that has very reasonable rates. The W hotel is pure luxury. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was very comfortable and exactly as the description stated. A very pleasant surprise was the Bliss spa located on the second floor. very modern spa offering a variety of treatments and products which are delivered by a very efficient and polite team of staff including two lovely English girls Katie and Alison. We had a fantastic time in Doha and can honestly say that the hotel and it's staff made our stay all the more enjoyable.

Recently opened in March 2009, W Doha is the first outpost from W Hotels in the Middle East [not including W Istanbul, which counts as Europe more than anything else], but will soon see more sister hotels in Amman and Dubai. The hotel was designed by the awesome United Designers of London, United Kingdom.

LOCATION: The W is located in Doha's up-and-coming West Bay district, surrounded by construction sites, towers, and the famous City Center shopping mall. It's literally a block from the Gulf.

ARRIVAL: The hotel itself is a sleek glass tower containing the hotel in the lower half of the building with the W Residences in the upper half. The entrance is a spectacular canopy [that is beautifully lit up at night with color-changing LED lights] with a large W logo in it and cool curving grass-covered surfaces at the front.

LOBBY: Dubbed the Living Room, this is an amazing room to be in. After encountering a water wall in the entry vestibule, the lobby itself is three floors high with tens or hundreds of blue/black lights suspended from the ceiling, a bowl-shaped fountain in the center of the room with the Welcome desks [reception] to the left and Whatever/Whenever [concierge] to the right. Everything, from the floor to the furniture, has a black and white theme accented with color.

CHECK-IN: Smooth and efficient, handled by a cool, friendly W associate. Took under 10 minutes.

CORRIDORS: The color scheme of black and white is carried out throughout the corridors, with feature art and vintage telephones located in the elevator lobbies on every floor. One very cool feature on every floor of the hotel is two hanging circular chairs located at the end of the corridors overlooking the Gulf and the city. These make for a quiet and private place to lounge in.

ROOM: I had an entry-level room [called a Spectacular Room in W lingo], but this room was far from being standard. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels before, but the design of this one was something I've never seen before. This room was 42 square meters, and though I've stayed in far larger, it maximized its efficiency due to its design. Conceived in the shape of a pearl, the bed is in a curving blue and beige leather wall with the 32-inch television embedded on black wood in a similarly-curving blue leather wall across from the bed. The bed, with 350 thread count sheets, four fluffy pillows and a luxurious duvet, is typical W plush splendor. A twilight turndown service is offered in all rooms. There is a well-stocked minibar, the signature Munchie Box, a tea-maker and espresso machine, and an armchair with ottoman. The desk is adjacent to the bed, and has decent lighting, several electric outlets and a high-tech phone. A cordless phone is available next to the bed, as is a Tivoli alarm clock/radio and JBL iPod speaker. A DVD player is housed in a small compartment in the TV enclosure.

BATHROOM: The bathroom is huge, done in white marble and etched clear and brown glass. There's a sink with plenty of counter space, a toilet, bidet, a large soaking tub, a roomy shower stall, a hairdryer and many towels. The shower stall houses a Grohe rain shower head and a handheld wand, with brown glass tiles on the walls and a cool, efficient drainage system located in a slit on the far side of the stall. The famous Bliss sinkside six [containing a bar of soap, shampoo, conditioning rinse, liquid soap, foaming face wash and fantastic lotion] comes standard.

FOOD: I only ordered room service for dinner once at 3 AM from a large menu with a lot of variety. I ordered a char-grilled beef burger medium well with a salad and fries. As promised on the phone, it arrived in 20 minutes. Hot, well presented and above all, ridiculously tasty. I can imagine that the food served in the hotel's outlets must be equally tantalizing.

RESTAURANTS: There are multiple venues at the hotel, including Market [international cuisine], Spice Market [Southeast Asian], La Maison de Caviar [French/caviar], Thassos [the lounge in the Living Room], Wahm [the poolside/outdoor shisha lounge] and the Crystal Lounge, which is gaining popularity as Doha's hottest place to see and be seen. Be sure to call in advance to get your name on the list, especially on weekends. All of the outlets are gorgeously designed.

FACILITIES: The W houses a fantastic Bliss Spa and gift shop and a well-equipped SWEAT [fitness center] with trainer. WET, the swimming pool, is still under construction, but hotel staff say that it should be up and running by the end of April or early May. When complete, it'll be black-tiled with color-changing fiber-optic lighting and underwater music; the adjacent pool deck will house cabanas and a bar.

WI-FI: Surprisingly in this day and age, W charges for Internet access in rooms. Wi-fi is free in the Living Room, but is charged at 2 riyals a minute and 50 riyals an hour in the rooms. The wireless Internet in my room wasn't working, and after visits from the IT staff and the IT manager, it still wasn't able to be fixed. As generous compensation, the IT manager offered me complimentary in-room wired Internet access free of charge for the duration of my stay.

SERVICE: Being a W, this place is filled with young and attractive staff [they're called Talent]. Unlike other Ws, where some staff are dismissed for being rude or snobby, the staff here are very friendly, cool and approachable, and they also addressed me by name. Whatever/Whenever was very efficient and easy to use; props to them. The cleaning staff are equally warm, and also addressed me by my name rather than the ubiquitous and impersonal 'sir'. I had a small problem with my bill; I found that I was being charged for my in-room Internet access despite being told by the IT manager that I would receive it free of charge. Having mentioned this to the receptionist, he quickly apologized and removed the charge from my bill; no fuss, no muss.

OVERALL: In conclusion, I'd say that W Doha is a complete, resounding success and off to a phenomenal start. A spectacular designer property staffed by a young and able team and coupled with hot venues and state-of-the-art facilities, the W is sure to become one of the region's leading hotels and one of the jewels in W Hotels' crown.
