“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 30 August 2011

Souq Waqif was closely the highlight of my trip to Doha. Staying here really felt like you were being apart of the city and the atmosphere of the Souq Waqif right out side the door added to the authenticity of the hotel. The rooms were handsomely decorated. Staff was very friendly and helped out in anyway they could. Do bring a converter as they have no european or 240 plugs in room as larger hotels tend to have. Dinner in adjoining restaurant is also very good but there or dozens of restaurants inside the Souq and an ATM a short distance away. Highly recommend for a real feeling of staying in Doha.

A really nice hotel in Souq Waqif.

The room was very spacious, tastefully decorated and the bathroom was excellent.

The staff were friendly, attentive and always ready to help.

The hotel is a short (15 minute) walk to the Museum of Islamic Art and the waterfront. It's also in the heart of Souq Waqif which is a facinating place to look around with a lot of good restaurants.

A very enjoyable stay.

Trip Advisor should have a separate category for a boutique hotel. Hotel Souq Waqif is very definitely not a "B&B". I usually avoid anything called a " B&B". and so only found out about this place by chance. My wife and I enjoyed a large, very quiet, well appointed room. Truly luxurious. Throughout our stay the reception and service was helpful, professional. and really friendly. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in restaurant which specialises in sea food. It was a big plus for us that the hotel is only a short walk from the Museum of Islamic Art (the object of our visit to Doha). And to be in the Souq with its shops and restaurants added to the pleasure. Altogether a delightful place in which to stay

Hotel Souq Waqif is a very quiet, very comfortable and very friendly establishment that's right next door to a wonderful souq/restaurant row. It's just 10 minutes from Doha International (but you don't hear planes) and a short walk from the Islamic Art Museum plus the corniche, which offers a great view of the fast-growing skyline across the turquoise water. (Downtown is a short cab ride or a mile and a half stroll along the corniche.) The hotel's staff is superb - always smiling, always helpful. Just inside the entrance are several bowls of very tasty flavored dates, a welcome treat! Be sure to check out the restaurants in the souq, especially Istafan - a Persian place where both the decor and the food will amaze you.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and loved everything about it. The location is perfect, you walk out and you are right in the Souq, with the lovely scents of spices and sheeshas. Lots of restaurants and cafes in the souq. Great place to shop, eat, or just sit with a cup of arabic coffee and watch.

Across the street from the hotel, there is a corniche, with amazing views of downtown Doha. Museums are close by. Going downtown requires a car - if planning to get a cab, needs to be booked in advance. The souq was so amazing that i had no desire to go downtown.

Staff totally helpful, pleasant, including staff at the restaurant where breakfast is served.

Would recommend this place without reservation.

This is a beautiful hotel. Location is great. I wanted to be walking distance to the souq, corniche and Museum of Islamic Art. Souq is at your door step literally, MIA only 10min walk and corniche right out the front. Service is attenive, friendly and discreet. The hotel is lavish and very Arabian style, heavy drapes, marble, comfortable bed, very clean. All amenities as expected from a high end hotel. I was looking for somewhere quiet for a mini break and this is what I got. Close to loads of different restaurants and shops. Great photo opportunities everywhere. Doha has grown up over the last 10 years, a must see for anyone who enjoys Middle Eastern Culture. I also visited Marriot Hotel for their Morroccan Bath. Well recommended too.

Stayed here for a night in late December and loved the location and hotel. It is right in the heart of the Souq Waqif market area (obviously from the name) so very accessible to lots of good restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. in a vibrant area. Also very accessible to the corniche and waterfront area, which is just gorgeous. The hotel itself is great, with high quality rooms, marble everything, etc.
