“Racist mall with racist practices”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

Villaggio is infamous as one of the malls in the region that practice a tradition they call "family day" on weekends, saturday if I am not wrong.

If you are asian (chinese especially, or indian), Pakistanis get singled out as well, you will not be allowed access. I was there for work some time back and tried to enter with my entourage of chinese friends. We were all denied access on the grounds that only family units, women were allowed in. But as we saw more europeans, americans, and arab guys walking in with no problem, we confronted the guard who casually told us "we are not racist, you chinese, indian, pakistanis, all the same, cannot come in"

We kicked up a big fuss and coincidentally one of our colleagues, a malay muslim who was already in the mall had to talk to the guard to let us in.

Truth is, racism against chinese is very prevalent in qatar and this sort of behaviour is unheard of in other parts of the world. If a singaporean chinese cannot enter a mall in qatar, should we return the favor and ban Qataris from entering our malls?

“A Venetian adventure in Qatar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

Whilst Qatar has more shopping malls than anyone could ever dream of, Villaggio's is my favourite. It has such a lovely atmosphere and so much to choose from. Qatar as a country has so many eating establishments but Villaggio's has a large variety and there is so much to choose from that it is often very difficult, you can either eat in the restaurants or you can eat in the food court, Attila's is a personal family favourite for a quick meal as the food is cooked fresh and on the spot and you can put your own meal together for you. The shops here are also brilliant and you can find most UK high street stores along with all the designer shops situated at one end so there is something for everyone. Gondolania is also a mini theme park for children so there is no need for anyone to be bored. There are rumours that they will knock Villaggio's down but I really hope they keep it as it has a lovely atmosphere and it's great to spend an evening here.

“Everything you want under one roof”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

Specialty stores, brand names, domestic needs for shopping, great restaurants, ice rink, amusement area, electronics, concert theatre tickets, banking, cinemas, and professional services. Can even have a ride in a water gondola, Venice style. Great meeting place. Plenty of parking. No need to go anywhere else.

Not a big mall fan, but this place is a fun (or funnish) visit. Lots to see and try. Dean & Deluca, the ice rink, and Cold Stone are favourites.
