I don't know how they got a 5 star rating because it is more like a 3.5 star hotel. The staff at reception were bickering with each other which was unprofessional. Issues with the room include: scuff marks on the wall, dirty windows, rusty bathroom drain, no slippers or robe, nothing in the fridge and the tv channels were fuzzy (but the rooms were clean). Breakfast was also of 3.5 star standards. On the other hand, the location was good. It was disappointing to realise that I could have paid a bit extra for a real 5 star hotel.

Recently I stayed in one of the so called suites. The room was dirty and had damaged items. One thing that worried me the most was a damaged wall socket plug. If children had been in the room this would have been a major safety issue. I sympathise as they were 'over booked' and seemed busy, but this was no excuse for the state of the room - over 100 pounds a night may I add.

The hotel is in a very secluded place and the only way to get taxi is to ask the Concierge. You cannot walk out to get a taxi. The rooms are clean and comfortable. But some of the basic amenities that even a 3 star hotels provide are not provided here. for example the bathroom slippers and robe are not provided. Very low quality toiletries. Very little help from reception/front desk if we ask for any direction or help. Only one person who helped me a lot was at the concierge. His name Mr.Faseen very good and helpful staff in the entire lot.

Also called them in advance and confirmed early check in but when i arrived, i was made to wait for more than an hour before the room was provided.

Breakfast is not that great but a decent spread and again if you compare it with what you get in an actual 5 star hotel, then it is not up to the mark.

Room Tip: Dont get deceived by the star rating.

The room was clean, comfortable, visually appealing and provided excellent views of Old Salatah and the water/Corniche. The toiletries provided were of very good quality- above average with respect to other hotels at which I have stayed. The breakfast buffet is worth including in your booking. The lunch buffet was excellent and great value for money. I loved that fact that this hotel is located at the start of the Corniche thereby allowing you to walk the entire length of the Corniche start to finish. It is also is walking distance to the Souq Waqif (a must visit) and the museum.

I did not care for the fact that the Concierge tried to pull one over on me with respect to the room I had booked. Even after I pulled out my booking and showed him the room I had booked and the views accorded to the room, he still gave me a difficult time. While I ultimately did get the room I had booked, after flying all day and being hungry and exhausted, arguing about my room at 8pm at night was the last thing I should have had to worry about.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor with city and sea views, you will not retreat it!

The english of the employees was not always good enough. Service was alright but sometimes a kind of rude. I am from Europe and when you speak to one another you look each other in the eye, out of respect. Or else it gives me the idea you are not taken me seriously.
