“A good place for an evening visit”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The beach offers you some relaxation from the hectic city life. You can just rewind and relax yourself while spending some quality time with either family or friends. A good place to visit.

“Bird Sanctuary rather than Family Beach Destination!”
Reviewed 15 January 2014

Bird Sanctuary rather than Family Beach Destination!
A Birds’ Oasis:
It is an area with mangroves so expect the beach to be muddy.
Due to the low tide one has to walk through the mangroves or the mud to reach the water. These plants of course play a significant role in land preservation and it is important to be protected.

It is a nice spot for walks mostly and if you are lucky you see lots of the wildlife living out here.

Take the highway towards Al Khor. Much closer to Doha there is the usual construction site with cranes scattered all over, piles of sand and cement behind ring fencing.
All this has to do with the Lusail project.

Further ahead the road is desert stretching for kilometers with not much to see on the way, with or two trees standing in the middle of nowhere.

Behind the enclosure of high trees and quite far from the road there are a few farms on the way belonging to wealthy locals but with no visibility of what is inside.

The beach stretches out from a natural jetty, skirts around a small cluster of mangroves and continues around the bend.

The area is mostly secured by fencing with beach facilities, ideal for family picnics.
Toilets are filthy...
I would NEVER consider myself swimming out here however it is an amazing spot for a stroll, to pick shells, fishing and taking photos!

TIP: (40 Km North of Doha)
For this beach take the highway towards Al Khor, and look for the exit to Lusail International Circuit. Instead of going right on the bridge, go left, until you reach the coastal village.

“Great family gathering”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

The beach itself is wonderful and sandy, unfortunately at low tide you have to walk through the mangroves or the mud to reach the water. For those who want to look at the water and grill out, it is paradise, for those wanting a dip in the briny it is not always great. The mud and the mangroves have these annoying biting insects so don't tarry in the areas between the sand and the sea. Across the street from the beach is a beautiful part with trees and grass and WiFi.

“It's Free, but it's quite Dirty”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

We went with a group of families to the beach at Simaisma at the end of May. It was quite hot that day. The beach is a silty mud vs being sand. And the water is quite far away from the shore. It was also quite contaminated and relatively shallow. The bonus was that there were barbeque pits and a covered shelter to rest underneath. There also was a lovely playground nearby. There are bathroom facilities there, but they are in a pretty sorry state. Bring your own toilet paper and use at your own risk.

The kids enjoyed the beach because there were quite a few creatures and shells that could be found. But kids don't mind dirt.

If you are looking for a free beach near Doha and don't mind dirt, mud, and are willing to walk a ways to get to the water, this may be the beach for you. (I personally prefer to drive farther for a cleaner more pristine beach.)
