“Overprice but nice rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2012

I over-nighted here in April 2012 because my flight landed at 1:00 a.m. and I had a connecting flight the next morning at 9:45 a.m. I emailed the hotel a month prior and made a reservation which went fine. They responded with a confirmation number etc. The price was USD $180. It was a quick check in, nice, clean rooms, no wifi in rooms. It is way overpriced though.

Check in was quick.
The room was modest, but had all the amenities for a one night stop over.
Very expensive but I would rather pay for a good nights sleep then try to sleep in the waiting area of the Abu Dhabi Airport.

If you are booked at the hotel, please get your free meal ticket from the transfers desk.
We did not know that till we got to the transfer desk and they issued us with a free meal ticket.

Firstly it is incredibly difficult to make a reservation at this hotel. Contacted the hotel after booking my flight to be told the hotel only takes bookings six weeks in advance. I waited, got back to the hotel exactly six weeks before and was then told there were no rooms available. Due to my long stop over at Abu Dhabi I was not very pleased and contacted my airline, who managed to book rooms on my behalf; so clearly there were rooms but only available to the chosen few.

Check in was fast and politely done. On entering my room it was incredibly cold, the room was clean but not particularly welcoming. The beds in this room were the oddest I have seen - very low to the ground and not terribly comfortable. The duvet was so thin and in a cold room it was not ideal, additional blankets or such were not included in the room and due to limited time I was not going to call housekeeping to request them.

Bathroom was fine, slightly dated, but had everything you needed, with amenity packs should you require them. The drawback was there was only two towels provided and these towels were little bigger than hand towels.

If you have a long stop over in Abu Dhabi this hotel is ideal. The shockingly backward approach to reservations (mentioned by previous reviews as well) is a big draw back. However the major issue is the property is not luxurious by any means, and the rate being charged leads you to expect much more than you get. If the hotel was not in the airport you would not be able to charge a quarter of what they ask and to be honest you would not want to stay there anyway!

If you plan on spending a day in Abu Dhabi and just one night , pick a different hotel - taxis are cheap . This one is very basic . I had to wait 24 hours for another flight so I have chosen it for convenience, but I would not do it again.

Room Tip: ask for quiet one, if there is any

USD $185.00 for a clearn, basic room per night; that is the published rack rate. My night was from 19:00 to 12 midnight before a 02:00 a.m. flight to Ukraine, so it was a very expensive nap. (The alternative is the Al Dana lounge at USD 50.00 for four hours, with no bed, obviously.) The hotel is right in the terminal, so it is very convenient. It appears to be managed by Mercure, and the hallways appear recently refurbished. No smoking room 407 had a thin king bed mattress on a low platform, not on box springs and two adequate but not large pillows. Functional, clean bathroom with good water pressure for hot water. No windows in the room, and the temperature was turned down to 10 degrees when I entered. I just turned off the ventilation entirely. No internet or WiFi service in rooms; WiFi only available at the reception area (although free WiFi is apparently available throughout the Abu Dhabi airport). Filipina front desk clerks were courteous but not exactly friendly.

There is really nothing special about this tired, nasty hotel except for its convenient location in the Abu Dhabi airport. You may be so tired upon your arrival here that you do not mind but the rooms are quite depressing and unpleasantly decorated, so hopefully you will not do anything but sleep and shower here. The beds are not particularly comfortable and the common areas are faily ugly and institutional. The place seemed only moderately clean - there was a long hair on the floor in the bathroom when we arrived which I really found gross. The bathrooms themselves need a revamp - they look like they were put in in the early 90s. If you need to stay longer than several hours, stay in a proper hotel because this place is fairly depressing to spend time in.

Facing a 15 hour transit after a mammoth 14 hour flight from Sydney, I was in dire need of time out from this travelling malarky.

So after reviewing my options a month earlier, I had decided on the airport hotel which sounded perfect for my transiting turmoil. Mind you, I wasn't terribly excited by the price - $185 for a single person! However, whose to argue when you've been awake over 24hours and feel completely wrecked eh?!

The hotel is conveniently located in Terminal 1. So I basically hopped, skipped and hurdled my over to the hotel where I was swiftly checked-in and given access to my little room. The place was spotless, comfortable and there was a working shower! Result! There are a few watch-outs to consider though, like being closely positioned next to the airport grounds so you kinda feel like your sleeping on the runway a little....the walls aren't the thickest either so don't be taken aback if you hear your neighbour fart or something. But you'll be too tired to notice so just suck it up and enjoy the stay.

I was glad to have booked a room in advance as there are only 30 rooms. Many people had to sit and wait for cancellations so whatever you do book ahead and secure some short-term sanity.

Needless to say I felt human enough to board my next flight.
