“Extraordinary architecture, must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2012

I visited the Mosque after sunset and was amazed by the scale and grandeur of the place. I ended up staying almost 2 hours, as I was captivated and taking photos and just enjoying the ambiance. There were very few other visitors when I was there (a Tuesday, from approximately 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.)

I would have liked a tour or guide to help explain some more about the significance of certain things, but even without this it was incredible to just walk around and enjoy.

If you are a keen photographer like me, it is worth noting that you can use tripods both inside and outside the Mosque. This was invaluable, particularly after dark, and there are many, many opportunities for great photos here.

Final bonus: it's free!

“Absolutely beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2012

This is a must for every traveller to the city.~Guys must have long sleeved shirts and ladies, you will be given black cover it clothing just inside the entrance to the Mosque.
The Mosque has masses of water everywhere, very soothing, it has a huge outdoor courtyard and masses of pillars with gold and beautiful flowers. You must leave your shoes at the steps to the inside area of the Mosque. Once inside you will sink into the hurrendously expense, largest carpet in the world, The marble walls are adpred with flowers in soft yellow and green. Go a little further inside and look up at the amazing huge chandeliers. Take time to wander round and take in the tranquility of your surroundings.
Totally fanatstic experience not to be missed

“Stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2012

I am not religous but something about the place took my breath away. There is almost a Taj Mahal like feel to it. You are expected to respect local customs, women covering head for example, and this is all done in a respectful way. I managed to arrive in time for the free 10am guided tour, and the guide was excellent, sharing the background and encouraging questions on thr location, religion and customs - for example why women cover up and why men/women pray seperately.

“Superb building”

Read online about daily free tours at around sunset, but there were no signs of any tour organisation when we arrived, just followed the crowds and showed ourselves around! Nice way to spend an hour at sunset anyway.

A must to visit when in Abu Dhabi!
Please join one of the guided tours; the guides are very willing to answer any questions. An extremely interesting, serene and lovely building.

Allow yourself time to enjoy it.
