“Wonderful stay, very helpful staff”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

My partner and I stayed here for 4 days before heading on to Oman. We arrived at 8am and were able to check in immediately even though check in is not until 2pm, this was much appreciated as we were tired after a night flight.

We booked a club room and found this to be very spacious and nicely decorated. The club lounge was nice for an evening, though smaller than most. W chose to eat berakfast in the main restaurant and this had an ample selection and a lovely terraced area to enjoy a view of the beach.

The beach area was very relaxing and though the poll area was closed we were given acceess to the infinity pool at the shangri-la which was also very nice. Both were exceptionally clean and the towels provided were lovely and fluffy.

The staff were friendly and helpful and saw to our every need throughout our stay. Overall the hotel offers superb value for money and the extra bonuses the club rooms offer are worth the money. The hotel offers far better value than the shangri-la as you can use the facilities but avoid the busyness.

Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Book a club room, they're bigger and you get more little perks.

We just returned from Abu Dhabi where we stayed 7 nights at Traders. Nicelly located a bit out of the city, but still not too far out. Quiet and relaxed athmosphere, very good service and fresh interiror. Aide variety of dishes for breakfast and in the evening they offer a BBQ buffet outside on the terrace or on the beach. Personell is polite and listens to every one of your wishes. The only minus maybe is AC, which was running full even on days that were not so cold. But I guess that is the case in many other fascilities. The pool still wasn't open but you colu use the one in Shangri la- a 5 min walk by the beach. In the vicinity there is a nice little shopping area - Souq Qaryat Al Beri with a couple of restaruants (maybe y bit expensive but also very good), small shops and a super market. All in all a nice hotel suitable for buissines and laisure travellers but maybe not so for people that like city centers since it is a 15-min drive to the center (maybe more if the trafic is bad). If you want to do some excursions the location is great - vicinity of the higway and no need to go trough traffic. The beach is small but nice, very quiet.Maybe they could use 3 life guards that are there to clean construction chunks that float every now and then from the opposite hotel that is in final stage of being built. Also left of the Traders there is one other hotel being constructed but the work is almost at the and. Still if you want some peace ask for a room on the other side.
I also didn't understand why we could'n use other pools that were on the way to Shangri la? It goes the same for the beach. It is all one hotel groupe and since Traders pool still wasn't functioning that would be the logical solution.

Room Tip: Not all the roomns have a balcony. Try to get a room wit a bgalcony an d a seeview.

Charming service but not such great food. A large group of us went to eat lunch.
The salad bar had very basic salad cuts and not a very interesting nor tasty range of chef produced salads. The laksa I had was lacking in authenticity and substance both in the broth and in the none appearance of any vegetables; plus not very spicy. A few noodles below an arbitrary, old hard boiled egg cut in half below two large tough king prawns - 80 AED.
Friends weren't impressed either. Dry chicken dishes, lacklustre looking sandwiches.
Not the place for a taste experience but ok for food and the fact that with a main meal you get a trip to the salad bar included so plenty to eat.
The foyer to the hotel lacks character but it is pleasant to sit outside on the terrace and look at the beach.
They have some good deals there from time to time and it has a purpose built souk with night club and chain coffee shop next door.

Room Tip: I haven't stayed there only eaten so can't advise on rates and rooms. Locals get discounts o...

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Affordable yet extremely well appointed. The service was excellent and all staff greeted us where ever we met them.

We stayed here because our travel agent was told to book a hotel with breakfast included for a 3 day stop over to break the journey from Australia to the UK. The agent booked a queen or twin room.

I don't know if they knew how good this place is, but I will definitely make sure they find out from me.

Room Tip: A room on the 4th floor or higher would have a better view. Ask for a room overlooking the beach.

Hotel have really good design, I like nice view in restaurant, deluxe room was big, clean and comfortable. Big bathroom with bathtub and shower, also i really like shampoo there and they also put toothbrush and toothpaste. I like hotel design. Also really nice souq (shopping center) few min walk from this hotel. No problem with a taxi, always was around. Free internet. But there was few things that I also don't like there. First location is far from everything except maybe Sheikh Zayed mosque, and at night (late evening after 10pm) no single place to eat, only in room, I spend around 1 hour to walk outside, but can't find any restaurant open in this area. Asian guy on reception almost don't speak english (at least I cant understand his accent) and also don't speak arabic, so guests have communication problems, hope now situation is better, also there was construction right next to hotel, that starts really early, so it was impossible to sleep or relax in room from early morning till evening. Anyway for this money, you can stay in better hotel with better location.

I stayed at the Traders in Abu Dhabi for 5 days with my wife. I had chosen the hotel as part of the Shangri-La group and having stayed at other Traders properties in Asia and was expecting the same sort of treatment.

Maybe I was just unlucky as the stay was blighted by a variety of niggles which could be overlooked on a one off but cumulatively they added to a real irritation. We booked a club room to provide access to the lounge and accompanying benefits. The room allocated was on the 8th floor and was very large but wholly impersonal. It had a dining table in a corner that served no real purpose seemingly other than to fill up the wasted space. The lighting in the room was poor and only had a small window and balcony that opened up to a view of the building works several floors below. One shining light was the bathroom which was well lit and spacious and regularly topped up.

The lounge was disappointing. It was small in comparison to other properties and was not non-smoking which made it unpleasant particularly as the sofas and comfy chairs were all in the smoking area. Consequently you had the choice of sitting on hard chairs around the buffet area to avoid the smoke. The temperature was not right and often the air-conditioning was too cold. Breakfast in the lounge was adequate but the choice was limited. The happy hour in the evening attracted high numbers which left limited places to sit and the buffet frequently ran out leaving a poor choice if you were late in.
The beach area was pleasant and well-tended and all the lifeguards on duty for the days that we were there were very helpful which is more than can be said about others.

My experience of the other staff around the hotel was poor. Many, while fluent in English just didn’t understand what you were trying to ask. Maybe I was just asking the wrong questions! I had problems with the front desk in particular who I considered were just not good enough.

Travelling extensively I come across stays from time to time which have problems and this was one. Overall, my experience was poor and I would not stay there again and equally would not recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor room with a beach view
