“Excellent hotel, perfect for a relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 5 January 2013

We are just back after spending 6 nights in the Traders Hotel in Abu Dhabi, we really enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel is very modern with a very colorful reception area, we booked a superior room and were very happy with it, it was very spacious, very nicely decorated and had all the extras of a luxury hotel in terms of thick and fluffy towels, extremely comfortable bed, loads of toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, etc.

The location was perfect for us since we were looking for a quiet place to relax, the Traders is besides its sister hotel, the very posh Shangri-la, between both hotels there are the Shangri-la private residences (a few Arabic buildings with their own private swimming pool and beach surrounded by lovely gardens and a small river running between the premises) and a souk (Arabic style market with little shops and really nice restaurants) to get to the souk there's a lovely walk around the private residences gardens and along the sea front, with a beautiful view of the sea, the impressive mosque and the just opened Ritz-Carlton hotel. By the way, at night time the Ritz-Carlton lights up in a way that looks like a building made of gold!

The best part of the Traders is probably the private beach, apart from the beautiful setting, the staff running the beach area really go beyond their duty to spoil you rotten.

Our first morning there we went down to the beach bringing our own water, the guys there, Dan and Amina, couldn't be more professional and friendly, they set up for us two very comfortable beach beds and a side table with a cooler box with 2 bottles of water inside, during the day they come a couple of times to ask if we needed more water and at mid morning when it gets really hot they come to offer a small towel rolled with ice to refresh ourselves, they also gave us 2 lovely book marks, they just couldn't be nicer.

I've been in other hotels where i felt the staff were being nice just looking for a tip but it didn't feel that way at all in the Traders, they just seem genuinely nice and happy to help.

On Thursday nights they do a BBQ in the hotel beach and we stayed there for dinner, it was absolutely delicious and plenty of choice, i highly recommend it.
So when we found out that for New Year's eve they were also doing a BBQ and NYE party on the beach we decided to book it even though it was quite pricey, the food that night was good but the choice was surprisingly poor, i guess this was because they were catering for a lot more people than normally but still, it was a bit disappointing. Still, we enjoyed the party and had a good night.

Outside the hotel, we went for dinner twice to an Indian restaurant called Ushna in the souk near the hotel, we had dinner outside overlooking the sea and the mosque, really romantic and the food is gorgeous.

We wanted to relax mainly but still managed to do a couple of excursion; we went to the Heritage Village, the lonelyplanet guide said it was free and open until 9 pm, we arrived a bit after 5 and found that it was indeed open but everything inside (the market, museum, etc) was closed! so if you decide to go, be there earlier than 5.

Near the Heritage Village is the very luxurious Emirates Palace hotel, we had read in the book that an afternoon tea there cost 50 euro each and they have a gold vending machine (!) we were not sure if it was worth the visit but since we were in the same area we went to have a look and took a few pictures, at least it's free!

What it was more than worth it is the visit to the mosque, the hotel has a complimentary shuttle bus that brings you there and collects you an hour and half later, the mosque is the most beautiful mosque i ever seen.

All in all we really enjoyed our time in the Traders, we were looking for comfort and relaxation and we got it big time!

Room Tip: Rooms in the 8th and 9th floor have extra services, like access to the private lounge, ironing servi...

For a two night stay in Abu Dhabi, we picked this hotel because of a great deal via booking.com.
We had the Traders Deluxe double room, with access to the Traders Lounge on the 9th floor.
Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready, but we were personally taken up to the lounge and offered a drink and a light snack. About half an our later, the check-in was completed. Our room was on the 7th floor, with view on the bay and the neighboring Fairmont hotel. The room and bathroom are very spacious, with both bath and shower. Large kingsize beds, top quality bedding. The babycot already in place, although we said we'd bring our own, just in case. Cleanliness is perfect all around throughout the entire hotel. Hallways are chilly, as airco is on 24/7.
Staff is very helpful, and are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay more comfortable. They were also very caring about our six month old baby, which was very comforting.
Location is excellenta and quiet, albeit a bit far from the attractions. The Grand Mosque is closeby (10mins by taxi). The domain surrounding the hotel is beautiful, even with abras going through. Pool and beaches are nice, but sometimes there are waterskiers which produce a lot of noise. Overall an almost perfect stay, with only a few tiny points of criticism.

Room Tip: Try and get a great deal on Traders Rooms.

I stayed there for three nights for a business trip. The hotel is new and offer a great value for money. The rooms are big and the staff is very helpful. Check-in was slow but the check-out was fast and easy. The hotel location is secluded and you can not find any nearby restaurant. Overall the Hotel was good and I strongly recommend it.

We stayed for 3 nights. The staff was very friendly, they even had a gift bag for our daughter. The staff on the beach are fantastic; bringing over water in a cooler and getting towels set up on your chair right away. There's a small souk with a few restaurants very close by, but other than that, there really isn't much around.

i had a lovely stay at Traders, the staff were so helpful, they could not do enough for you.
easy distance from the airport as i had a very late flight arrival, and 20 minutes in to town.
very comfortable room, and bed, lots of space, could open the window if you dont want air con.
fabulous breakfast, eat it outside amongst the birds and by the water.
watched the sun set over the water looking at the mosque
great swimming pool
and if you like the colour lime green - you are in for a treat

great stay for business or pleasure -not the luxury of the shangrila next door - but very comfortable and more like home....
you can always walk along to the shangri la or the souq and there is a boat ride around that area for free...

Room Tip: i asked for a quiet one, there is building work going on at one end (of course there is it is the UA...

I stayed 6 nights at the Traders in October. The hotel has a great location at the water so you have a resort feeling close tot he city. The Traders is located right next to the Shangri La with the Souk. So you can enjoy walking along the beach and do some shopping. Also there is a mini mart in the Souk which is very helpful. The superior club room was not too big but the layout of the room made it look bigger. The bed was very comfy and the shower excellent. The club lounge is good but the variety of snacks could be better. Overall a great stay and I would always come back.
