We stayed there for 10 days over the new year. The service from all the staff was absolutely fantastic.Nothing was too much trouble and they were always looking to make sure you were well looked after, very attentive. We dined in the origin restaurant and mentioned to the manager on our first night that there was not a lot of choice for vegitarians, the chef made us some pasta which was absolutely delicious! Every night throughout our stay, the chef made us a special meal. We stayed in one of the executive rooms so had access to the executive lounge, again, the staff were always making sure we were happy. Everywhere you went in the hotel, the staff were pleaseant, welcoming & helpful. The only minor problems we had was the door to the balcony was very difficault to open & I had to call reception on two seperate occassions to close it. It was a mission to open too! Also, the whole time we stayed, the hammam was not working which was a bit of a disappointment, but I did mention this to the manager & staff in the executive lounge and when it came to checking out, they allowed us to have a late (4pm) checkout as our flight wasn't till 2.35 am. We did have spa treatments, which were soooo relaxing and they also gave us 2 free salt rub treatment pouches as they knew we were a bit disappointed with the hammam not working. I would definately recommend a stay here & would definately go back!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the executive room, 1244, the view was really good, we could see the marina & the f1 racetrack!!

We stayed at the Yas Hotel for 2 nights as part of package that included tickets to one of the concerts at the Yas Arena.
Check in was quick and efficient, alas check out involved long queues. Additionally there was confusion over what was/was not included in the room rate... so suggest you double check both before and after you book!!!
The room was huge and very well equiped with a very comfortable huge king bed and the bathroom was in keeping with the modern theme of the whole hotel.
Dinner on both nights was excellent (we ate in both the Italian and Indian).
Breakfast was not as good, perhaps as the hotel was very busy.. top marks to the chefs cooking the eggs to order!!

A great place to stay if you want a break ... staff were busy but always friendly.. food in the restaurants was excellent.

Top Tip : Avoid a room overlooking the yacht club... as there was music coming from it that was so loud it woke us up at 3.00am!!!

Wife and I had a two week break taking in Christmas and New Year on bed & breakfast rate arranged through Best At Travel (who were very good) at 675AED per night.
Positives :
Comfortable room, good bathroom/shower, comfortable king size bed. Mini-bar with space to take a few non-hotel cans equipped with a sensor-operated charge system which has been de-activated.
Helpful, friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast.
Choice of eight restaurants : Japanese, Lebanese, Indian, Italian, Chinese/Thai, or a Buffet Selection served in breakfast restaurant .. or fish speciality (Nautilus). All are reasonable quality, expensive but not exorbitant - there is also the roof restaurant serving a limited menu of cheaper food. All restaurants have same wine list starting at about £25. Nautilus had best views and is worth a visit.. The Chinese and Lebanese were different... fish at the Lebanese was particularly good.
Both pool areas have limited food & drinks menus, and staff service in these areas is very good - as it is in all restaurants.
The night club was empty apart from New Year‘s eve... apparently complaints from residents in nearby rooms about the noise has resulted in the opening hours being reduced... Good news for some, disappointing for others.
Only 20 minutes to airport.
Gym small but quite well equipped.

Negatives:
Very noisy - on flight path and cars periodically using race track.
Room service is hit and miss.
Duplicated charges on room bill. On two occasions after checking bill on the in-house T.V. facility, I had to get erroneous accommodation charges removed.
Patio door was difficult to open and close.
Poor balcony. We had room on LHS facing entrance.. (overlooking marina) - constantly in shadow. Rooms on the opposite side do get the sun, but many do not have access to balcony because handles have been broken (or been removed for safety reasons, according to staff). In any event, views restricted by supporting structure of external lights.
Smoking allowed in outside areas of some restaurants, and swimming pool areas.
A small bottle of beer is about £4 which is somewhat expensive for hotels in the area. Wine is expensive by UK standards.

Other restaurants we tried:
‘Stars N Bars’. You can get a taxi for about 7AD or go down the lift by the F1 circuit bridge and walk around the marina (10 minutes). Reasonably priced food and Happy Hour from 5pm - 7pm.
Bu Tafish in Khalifa - really good, reasonably priced local meat and fish.
Sumo Sushi & Bento in Masdo City... good cheap Japanese food in basic surroundings. Visit Masdo City and take a ride in a Personal Rapid Transit System - a driverless taxi, which will take you to what must be the cheapest Japanese restaurant anywhere in the UAE.
The Meat Co steakhouse at Souk Qaryat Al Beri is very good, but overpriced.

Marco White Steakhouse at The Fairmont, Rucci Indian restaurant near Al Mariah Mall and Barouk at Crowne Plaza were recommended, but we didn’t get to them this time.

I visited the other hotels in Yas and although not as smart or upmarket as the Viceroy, some - like the Crowne Plaza, Raddison Blu and Rotana - would undoubtedly be better suited to families.. with outdoor pools, garden areas with play facilities, informal dining with good choice for kids, etc. We also looked at the Al Raha Beach Hotel about 15 minutes drive from Yas - this traditional hotel with nice pools, gardens and beach area, would warrant consideration when the current extension being built is completed.

In fairness, we enjoyed our trip to the Viceroy. Having read previous Trip Advisor reports, we were prepared for the noise, dubious room service and broken patio doors. We were also aware that the swimming pools were quite small and that there were no gardens. On several occasions, we were the only people using the pool areas, and it was obvious that room occupation was very low for much of our time there.

If you want a quiet, relaxing break - the Viceroy is not for you. If you want a comfortable bed, a brilliant breakfast, interesting and varied food for dinner, friendly and helpful service at reception, porters, restaurants and pool ... and you don’t mind noise, the occasional whiff of tobacco smoke in your face and unreliable room service, this may be for you.

Room Tip: See comments regarding balcony - no sun on LHS facing rooms. Could be noisy in rooms near night club.

We stayed at the Yas hotel during the F1 weekend in November and all we can say is WOW what a weekend!

The hotel is just a stunning as it is on all the photos you see of it. We drove up to it at night and were very impressed.

The deluxe room we had was spacious, luxurious and ideally situated on the corner just past the bridge. We could therefore sit on our balcony and watch all the practices and qualifying. It was an amazing experience.

Staff at the hotel is very professional and was there in abundance to ensure everyone received immediate attention with any request they may have. There was even someone pushing the lift button for you!

As it was F1 weekend hotel security was very tight and special access passes were given to guests to ensure there was no unauthorised access to the hotel.

We visited a number of the bars and were pleasantly surprised with the prices as we were anticipating ridiculously high prices given it was F1 weekend, but this wasn't the case.

We mainly made use of room service and the food was of a very good quality (highly recommend the chicken pesto pita). We had breakfast in the hotel on race day which was very expensive for what it was (continental buffet).

There is a bar on the roof and there is a nightclub so the hotel can be quite noisy at night. However a pair of ear plugs resolved this issue easily enough.

During our stay we visited ferrari world during our stay and unless you are an avid ferrari fan I wouldn't pay to go in as the building itself is more impressive than the content. We also went on the fastest roller coaster in the world and whilst it was an experience, it only lasts 30 seconds so again not worth the entrace fee.

We had a brilliant time at the Yas and would recommend anyone visiting the F1 weekend to stay here as it makes the whole experience, whilst expensive, very special indeed and worth it!

Room Tip: Our room had access to the balcony during race weekend, but some balconies were made inaccessible if they were too near the circuit. We therefore recommend that you ask whether you will have balcony access, should you stay here on race weekend.
