stunning hotel, the view of the mosque is wonderful, we had reserved a room on the gold floor (7th), we were given probably the worst no 723, very noisy, as it has a very noisy machinery above, also cupboards are very small and could not accommodate more than a couple of items, after complaining about the noise and lack of space, we were offered a very nice corner room with double the cupboard capacity, the design of the electrical switches could have been planned better, no night light to the bathroom, only a central switch for all the lights to come on! the staff was charming and nothing was too much trouble to advise or arrange outings. The advertised spa is still not opened after several months.
The cleaning standard could be improved as the corridor carpet did not get clean for a week and it was done only after we mentioned it a couple of times.

The restaurants are very good, would I want to stay there again? I would start to look for alternatives, but the position on the creek overlooking the mosque is the best view in Abu Dhabi.

Party of 5 ( 3 kids aged 8 months , 8 and 10 ) upon arrival no real welcome ( no one with coll towels and drinks which one normally expects at this level) , went to a few desks and asked about check in for Fairmont Gold ,maybe as we looked tired ( long flight and 3 kids) they were all uninterested and told us to join the big queue of buisness pesons waiting to check in . I recalled our agent telling me about the 7th floor so ventured up there myself , still no welcome , they got us mixed up with someone else , however when i eventually explained who we were the member of staff profusely apologised and upgraded us to a really nice suite .
There was a wait for the cot and the beds for the kids but we didnt mind as the room was stunning .

The stay got better from there :Here are the plus points

1) nice facilities
2) it was nice and quiet by the poolside and beach
3) excellent choice of restaurants and not too badly priced and in Frankies free meal for the kids as they wanted simple pasta and tomoato sauce
4) very helpful staff and accomodating eg free steamed veg for the baby and always polite
5) good gym

bad points

1) the snacks on the gold level are just that snacks but you do get free drinks
2) the room cleaning frequency and level of cleaning did dwindle as the week went by
3) some may think its a little too quiet by the beach and pool but we liked it

As for things to do :

walk to the souk in the shangri la next door - its a bit quiet but a nice set up . i wouldnt eat there however there is better quality food at the fairmont and also the shangri la

Yas Marina circuit tour was good .Went to thehotel next door and was glad we didnt stay there - it felt too clinical and quiet

The mosque visit was a nice trip

and thats about it .

The Fairmont in Abu Dhabi is one of the most beautiful, new hotels I have ever experienced. The architecture, interior design, furniture and furnishings are exquisite. The pool area is particularly nice. Moreover, the staff is, to the person, highly professional and personable. Receptionists Gina and her colleagues were most helpful; and Darryl, one of the concierges, went way beyond the call of duty to help me with a package. I will happily stay at the Fairmont anytime!

Just got back from Abu Dhabi and i had to let everyone know how beautiful and brilliant our stay was at the Fairmont, and how even more amazing the staff were. I know the hotel is relatively new, but everything was immaculate, and it seems like they have thought of everything at this hotel. From the moment we arrived at the hotel and were greeted by the staff as we got out of our taxi, to the day we left, the service, and more so the friendliness and keeness to help, showed what a great team they have at the Fairmont. Nothing was too difficult or impossible, for the staff, and i can imagine even awkward customers would not be able to fault their customer service practice. Staff try to address you by your name and acquaint themselves (without imposing on you), and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. The pool was amazing, the restaurants and food were incredible and our room was magnificent.

I could go on forever about this hotel and their staff, but i'll just say that my girlfriend and I have said we're definitely going back to this gem of a hotel in Abu Dhabi. If you want service with a smile, in a magnificent modern style hotel, but just outside of the main capital, then this is the spot!!!!

Just arrived back in Norway after 8 nights at Fairmont Bab al Bahr. I accompanied my wife who was doing business in Abu Dhabi, so while she was working I had all the time in the world to test the hotel facilities. It was a great experience. Fairmont is a very comfotable hotel but even more important it has extraordinary staff.
The hotel is a typical 5 star property. Spacious rooms, lots of amenities, several different dining options, beautiful garden with very nice pool area and a lovely beach facing one of Abu Dhabis many creeks. The hotel has two fitness centers, one for each gender, but wives can join their husbands in the gents version. Plenty of state of the art TechnoGym equipment on hand. The only thing lacking at the moment is the spa facilities but these seem to be under construction.
The hotel is located about 20 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi so if your looking for a city experience you might want to try a different option. On the other hand Fairmont BaB is located close to the Exhibition center ADNEC, and close to Yas Island with the Formula 1 racetrack and the Ferrari Center. The hotel lies only about 15 minutes from the airport.
All in all Fairmont Bab al Bahr is a typical comfortable 5 star hotel. Still its different compared with many of its competitors. The difference lies in the staff. They made our stay very special. Professional and efficient but at the same time warm friendly and very polite. Fairmont can be really proud of their staff in Abu Dhabi!

Being a President Club member and a 4th time visitor in less than a month I am not impressed !

Well you pay over $400 dollars you expect the best. The lobby is grand and all and because of the club membership I get to have dedicated desk check-in. ONLY.

The lobby is a glam and grand but beyond that as you go to the room elevators it suddenly mutes in to ordinary feel.

Later the room had large windows with lovely creek views towards the mosque. But the design was un-functional: glass shelves (dangerous to kids), little storage space, no towel/ robe hangers, and most importantly the tv was very small and far from the bed that makes it hard to see and the remote doesn't work.

All that aside the service was not up to the standard. Having requested a cot before check-in we have arrived late at night and the cot is not in our room. We had to call again and it arrived an hour late.

The service staff from housekeeping and in-room dining would ring the bell impatiently three times in less than a 30 seconds which was totally impolite. Later they would forget the fruit 'platter' from the breakfast table and would come back with a 'tea cup saucer' that had three slices of melon and three berries !!

Also I have requested housekeeping to make up my room as I stayed in it all morning. They got 2 hours late from the time I have scheduled it.

All in all, this hotel is not worth the money. The Shangri-La next door is far more courteous and generous with outstanding service and value for money.
