Let's start with the start: excellent first impression for this stylish, sobre (and that's a good thing in UAE) and well located hotel. The room is all you can expect from a hotel of this standard, the gym is quite all right for a hotel gym, and the pool is pretty nice as well. I should also say a word about the Thai restaurant "Silk & Spice", which clearly deserves a visit.
On the negative side is the Club Millesime Lounge (that is the Executive Club). Though it does look and feel nice, and though the service is more than appropriate, some local policies are either absurd and/or unevenly applied. I have notably and repeateadly seen people (more on the family vacations side) showing up for breakfast wearing bermudas and not be rebuked, despite the dress code. On a weekend day, and early morning, however, I was myself rebuked for wearing bermudas, which boasted my anger. The "cocktail" hours are strangely inadequate, besides, so you had better rush there in between 17:30 and 19:30 if you are into having a G&T or a beer before dinner. Last time I checked, this was not Germany. Breakfast at the Club Millesime is also somewhat disappointing and limited in choice/diversity. All in all, as a result, and unlike other Sofitel hotels I've stayed at before, I'm really not sure it is worth paying for access to this Lounge.
A few other negative details could be worth mentioning as well, such as having to call room service for a resupply in coffee in the room, which had been recurrently forgotten by housekeeping, or having to "sign in/sign out" almost everywhere you go (gym, pool, but surprisingly not the executive lounge....), which I find irritating and fairly useless.
