“Must visit, but better do it with someone you know”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

My sister in law is a student at Masdar, hence I had the chance to visit it with a very knowledgeable tour guide that has A LOT to say about every corner and curve.

Every single facility has a story behind it, a quite interesting story. Main attractions to see, I would vote for: the library, the dorms, the wind tower, the solar farms and of course the PRT system.

Visiting Masdar can also be a spiritual trip for those who believe in a bright future, or even believe in a Middle Eastern bright future.

Like any other attraction in UAE, this place is best visited in the cool seasons - anytime but June, July, August and September.

I even was lucky to have my sister in law's house some 15 minutes walking distance away from Masdar. I got a chance to cycle all the way there both at night and day and tour around the Solar farms with my bike. Check this bubble out, I got it while in the solar farm: http://on.bubb.li/269164aktkgxyd376kltw07/

“Green in Oil City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

The Emiratis are using their oil money to exercise and learn from green initiatives in this near-off-grid oasis. The technologies being employed keep the place comfortable and well-lighted. A pretty large community on the edge of Abu Dhabi, Masdar City does community outreach and advocacy for low carbon footprint and low fossil fuel living. This reviewer sees major flaws and intentional fallacies (for the profit of certain government-control advocates), so is very happy to note the practical stance Masdar has on its role. Their initiatives are driving toward grid-independence, but they do acknowledge that their technologies are ahead of their time and not economically (environmentally or financially) feasible... yet. On another note, the one decent organic market in Abu Dhabi is resident in Masdar City, so we go there for Bob's Red Mill baking products...

“MUST VISIT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

World's first ZERO carbon city. Whats there not to visit.
U can arrive by car, public bus (AED4 one way) and then hop on to electric train to take you around Masdar.
Can be confusing the first time, when I drove there. I felt the signage wasnt adequate.

“Conceptual place, nice to discover”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

When visiting Abu Dhabi, MASDAR is worth the stopover.
Building layout and construction material characteristics are interesting, the wind tower is a modern replica of the Middle-East old times smart cooling invention.
The transportation from car park to main living area is done with automatic electrical cars, a fancy and funny way to approach the place.
And for those willing to join Masdar Institute of Technology the place is really fantastic. I wish a was a student there!
