We just came back from a one week holiday at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa in Abu Dhabi. The hotel is a wonderful oasis of peace and friendliness and we can recommend it warmly.
The rooms - choose a Kasara Mangroves room, they're great! - are spacious and comfortable. The food at the hotel restaurants is fantastic. The breakfast and dinner buffet are none of the ordinary, odd buffets, but very tasty and versatile with a lot of freshly prepared dishes.
The best feature of the hotel is its friendly staff. From the helpful members of the concierge desk - Karim, Shetty and Frederick in particular - to the warmhearted reception ladies to the restaurant crew of Chef Hussain, all employees made our stay special and we really felt well received and enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommendable!

Room Tip: Take the Kasara Mangrove room: it does not only give you a great view of the mangroves and is quiete...

i stayed there in new year, i like it very much, big rooms, superb view on the mangroves, everybody was exceptionel, from reception to the spa, without forgetting the lovely breakfast, concierge team was the best, karim very welcoming and helpful,

Even though I only stayed for a weekend, it was a great experience. The staff are so helpful and knowledgable, the spa is one of the best I have ever been to and the beautiful view of the mangroves is very calming and relaxing. The kayaking trips are a fabulous experience too.
I would like to recommend Dimitra, the Greek chef at the pool restaurant, who managed to whip up a meal for my friend who is gluten-intolerant and even served it to her personally.
We were wowed by quite a few people, unfortunately I can't remember all the names.. There was one Filipina lady in Guest Relations as well who was extremely witty, funny and just generally lovely.

Rooms are big & nice, bet service is extremly poor for 5* hotel:
1) Need to ask several times to get your coffee during brakfest;
2) In pool bar need to wait 40 min to get menu and 40 min more to get drinks!
3) In Thai restaurant we got in bill additional mineral water bottle.
Hard to imagine this hotel for leisure - pool is quite small and looks more for decoration purpose not for swimming.

Stayed here for the formula one weekend which coincided with my husbands 50th birthday. I emailed them to tell them that we were coming for his birthday and on arrival they could not do enough for us. They upgraded us, made sure we had an early check in, a birthday cake and just made the weekend that extra special. The rooms are excellent. The hotel itself is fantastic. From the moment you arrive you know that your stay is going to be special. I would like to give a special thank you to Betty who made all this possible and I'm looking forward to coming back to stay next year. The food, the staff, the facilities were all excellent.

This hotel is in a fairly quiet position, far enough from the centre to be relaxing but close enough for to get there for business. The hotel has a deliberately calming atmosphere which might slightly irritate anyone who is purely interested in business but is ideal for those looking for a little calm in the hustle and bustle of the UAE capital.

The rooms and decor are impressive - as you would expect from a new hotel which is part of an upmarket luxury brand. The hotel really scores with its choice of staff who seem to genuinely care for their guests. There is a warmth which is lacking in many other local hotels.
It is a new hotel and not everything quite goes to plan. The breakfast service clearly still needs some work but at least the staff are willing. I had some problems getting them to prepare eggs royale correctly but the management took note of the issue and resolved it.

The hotel was fairly busy during my stay and yet the pool area was never remotely full. However, it does seem a little small for a hotel of this size and there are only minimal facilities for children (the hotel is really designed more for singles and couples than families with children who would be better elsewhere). Service at the pool was very good.
We stayed on the Kasara (Business) floor and we were very happy with the service in the Lounge. Amer, the Kasara manager, and Fatima and the other staff were all excellent hosts.
Karim, the concierge, is another star of the hotel and is exceptional.
Some might find it too quiet but, for its target market, the Eastern Mangroves Hotel does its job very well.

Nice Hotel, very new. Cool lobby. Rooms spacious and well equipped, really fine and harmonius color concept. Location: at the motorway to downtown Abu Dhabi, with taxi 20 AED to Abu Dhabi Mall, 38 AED to Marina Mall. Possibility to take a walk with view on the mangroves. Well and new eqipped fitness area. Small, but really fine pool area with extremly friendly staff. Food in restaurant Ingredients (event and breakfast buffet) very well and highly recommended by me and my wife - almost as well as in a Mandarin Oriental.
BUT: except of lobby guest relationship (Fatma from Marocco) and pool staff this hotel has to really improve in service topics.
a) we had a pre-paid stay booked with a travel agency - regardless of the pre-payment my creditcard was charged with an amount of 1.785 AED (=385 Euro) on the day of my check-out. I complaint about that by email. First I received no answer, then an apology with promise to check, then (after more emails) more apologies and mails but still no refund of the withdrawal on my creditcard. Meanwhile after almost 3 weeks of complaints, emails, apologies, promises to refund immediatley and waiting I have asked my creditcard company to reverse the withdrawal. And I'm really fed up to ask for my money.
b) staff in restaurant Ingredients - well, maybe a little more professionalism could help.
c) discussions between waiters and between cooks should be carried out in front of customers
d) a chef de cuisine who is shouting in this cellphone while walking between tables with guest during breakfast time is a little bit unsual.
e) a receptionist is taking care of a guest - so far so good - but when the next guest is arriving, the first guest is forgotten - that's strange.
