We stayed for five nights at the end of November and beginning of December. We received a friendly greeting on our arrival and check in was quick and efficient and our luggage delivered to the room within minutes. As we were staying for a short break we had not booked a Mangrove room and therefore our view was looking over the front entrance of the hotel and over the city. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and with a large well appointed bathroom with a separate bath and enclosed rain shower. There were plenty of toiletries available. As we arrived quite late we booked room service and the food was decent quality and arrived within 30 minutes. We slept well, the bed was comfortable with good quality linen. We had breakfast included and each day this was plentiful with a lot of hot and cold choices. You can eat outside with a view over the pool and the mangroves or inside in the spacious and beautiful Ingredients restaurant. We had planned only one day sightseeing and the Assistant Front Office Manager, Denis Krupp, provided us with ideas on how to see the sights in one day, gave us maps, water and arranged a taxi and open top bus tickets. He was extremely friendly and efficient and made suggestions we had not considered. We spent the first day sightseeing in Abu Dhabi city and the Grand Mosque and Emirate Palace are well worth a visit. We also enjoyed afternoon tea looking at the view from the Etihad Tower. The open top bus is good value and you can hop on and off and see the other sights such as the Corniche. We ate at the hotel each night and attended the speciality nights, we particularly enjoyed the Butchers Evening with a wide variety of different meats and cuts of meat cooked to order. We enjoyed all of our meals at the hotel , the quality is excellent and menus imaginative. The pool area is well laid out and very pretty but does lose the sun earlier in the day approximately 3.30pm, at this time of year but that is not too problematic The staff are attentive in the reception, restaurant and the bars, the only downside is service around the pool is very slow, particularly when ordering drinks. The rooftop bar, Impressions is a lovely place to sit after dark with a cocktail enjoying the city view. Our room was well kept during our stay and there was a lot of attention to detail. We hope to return again and next time we will book a Mangrove Room for the view and additional Mangrove Club extras.
We did not get the opportunity to use the spa but will do so on our return.
Taxis are cheap and easily available, transfers to or from the airport are about 30 Dhiram. However be careful, do not get in a taxi that does not have a meter, as we did on our arrival at the airport or you will be very over charged as we were.

Room Tip: Choose a Mangrove room for afternoon sun on the balcony.

The hotel is a great relaxing destination within buzzing Abu Dhabi. I stayed 2 month on and off in November and December at the hotel and had a wonderful time.

Rooms are very large with great Mangroves view. Enjoyed the Hotels gym which is fantastic on its equipment and very attentive. Had some dinners at the Thai Restaurant. Living in Bangkok, I have to say the food is incredible - top class. A hidden treasure is the rooftop Bar called impressions. A must to visit

Two separate one-night stays in Abu Dhabi required somewhere convenient to access, not too expensive and more than anything, comfortable. I was impressed with the room decor and in particular, the all-important bathroom arrangements. An excellent shower, good room service and comfortable beds made this a good choice for me.

We arrived at the Anantara on Christmas day and received a very warm welcome from both the door staff and Amar on reception. We were quickly directed to our room and our luggage arrived soon after. We ordered room service that night and it arrived within 30 minutes and was cooked and presented to a very high standard.
We had a Kasara balcony room and we made good use of the Kasara Lounge – consider this seriously, should your budget allow. We had a cool drink with some snacks during the day but the icing on the cake was the evening service where we enjoyed nice quality wines on tap. There is an excellent choice of spirits if this is your preference. The canapés were delicious ranging from hot dishes such as dim sum, king prawns and spring rolls to cold rare roast beef , specialist cheeses, patés etc. The choice was wonderful and again the quality of food superb. The chef was around each night to ensure that the dishes were all topped up. We received excellent attention from Shayan who really made our holiday special. He has excellent knowledge of the city and was able to recommend how and when to visit the local attractions. One particular evening, we wanted to visit the Emirates Palace Hotel. We were disappointed to discover that the restaurant of our choice was fully booked. This was not an obstacle for Shayan who (after a few phone calls), secured one of the best tables at one of the most exquisite restaurants we have ever dined in. We were even served dessert as a “gift” as the restaurant manager thinks very highly of Shayan. It was a very memorable night. The Kasara Lounge was very quiet on our last night so we stayed until late and enjoyed Shayan’s company – he ordered fresh dim sum and we ended up not requiring to leave the hotel for an evening meal.
We visited the Pachaylen Restaurant one evening. The ambiance is lovely and (having visiting Thailand twice) the food is exceptionally good. We were slightly disappointed as the timing of courses was a bit off e.g. my started arrived 20 minutes before my husband’s and my cocktail arrived with my soup. That said; my husband spoke to the restaurant manager who apologised in a very sincere way and happily discounted the bill.
The Ingredients Restaurant served a most wonderful breakfast, the choice was endless and we were warmly welcomed each morning.
As said by many other reviewers previously, the rooms are beautiful … the bed/pillows were fabulous.
Our only negative comment regarding our stay was the manner in which the “booking” of the sun loungers was managed. As we visited during winter, the pool area gets very little sun (disappears behind the building at around 3pm) and as a consequence, very few of the loungers are in direct sunlight. Some guests, without any consideration for others, placed a magazine on a lounger well before 7am but didn't arrive down until after 11am. These loungers were in the sun without anyone being able to enjoy them. As a result, many people had to sit in the shade. A simple sign to say that personal items placed on loungers will be removed if the owner does not return within say 1 hour would easily remedy this problem. One morning, we had breakfast early then headed out for a swim. There were two loungers available close to the pool but when we went to secure them, a member of staff (wearing shorts/red jacket) told us that they had already been “reserved” - even without any items being place on top. It was sad to witness the fact that some guests appeared to be receiving very special attention which we found to be distasteful. We feel strongly that management should address this issue as there were many of us who felt aggrieved.
One last point on the hotel, balcony rooms do not receive sun at this time of year so perhaps think twice if you are thinking of upgrading for the purpose of enjoying the sun. The view of the mangroves and city is divine but alas, no sunshine.
Finally, we wandered along the promenade one day and found the Flooka Restaurant, right next to the hotel. Please visit this…the seafood is absolutely superb.

Room Tip: Mangroves side lovely but no sun in winter. If possible, opt for Kasara Lounge.

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and we loved it. The suites are very comfortable and pretty. The breakfast buffet was the best! Location is good. The mangrove's view is really beautiful. We rent kaiaks and had a lot of fun. We had dinner at the hotel only once, at the Thai restaurant and it was good. Definitively recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Kasara Mangrove suite (Room 115) at the hotel on Dec 27th and 28th and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The private wade pool with the views of the water, mangroves and the Abu Dhabi Skyline in the distance was absolutely spectacular! The suite itself was spacious and elegant. The decor was soothing and we could tell that a lot of thought had gone into the use of space and planning of storage.

Dining in the Thai restaurant Panchaylen and breakfast buffet at the Ingredients are wholesome experiences.

Chilling out at the Kasara lounge any time of the day with complimentary mocktails and cocktails was an unexpected delight.

Our 18-year-old son had a great time trying out the guided stand up paddle tour available in the evenings and the guided kayaking tour available in the mornings and evenings.

The highlight of our trip was the Signature Anantara massage.

The service was excellent and we had a perfect time! Would love to try out other Anantara properties around the world. Have become an Anantara loyalist!

It was like staying in Anantra and Banyan Tree at the same time as you can notice both flavors, why? well because the developments started out as Banyan Tree but ended up with Anantra. Hence as a guest it is just bliss! This is the result of two of the best resorts in the world, every aspect of this hotel and the use of space has been well thought out. We stayed at the Deluxe Mangroves Balcony Room facing the Mangroves. The views of the Sunset and Sunrise over the mangroves is just breathtaking. We had dinner at Pachaylen and breakfast at Ingredients and both of them were satisfying to say the least. I wish if they hotel could arrange a night romantic canoo service around the mangroves!
