We found this to be a customer/guest friendly hotel with excellent facilities and a team that genuinely went out of their way to ensure that you enjoyed your stay.

There were many dining options with choices of theme such as Italian, FishMarket, Flaming Grills and a new Belgian Beer Cafe. All of these were well positioned for a 5star hotel in terms of food offer and price. We dined at the Belgian Cafe and the FishMarket and enjoyed both experiences due mainly to the excellent staff and the way that they took care of us. In addition the team in the club lounge were extremely attentive and efficient.

The room was clean and comfortable with good facilities.

Overall a great stay with the staff at all touch points making a real difference

Stayed for 3 nights prior to 6 night hol in Dubai, weve been to Dubai many times but this was our first time in Abu Dhabi. Check in around 10am was seamless and all of the staff were polite and courteous at all times. Tried all restaurants except Fishmarket due to unfortunate circumstances but the Italian, Chamas, Yacht Club and the Belgian Beer Bar were fantastic and although attached to the hotel the varying levels and short walks gave you the impression it was more like a village, not a hotel complex. The short walk to the beach via the marina for a pre dinner drink at the Beach Bar was a nightly ritual and the bar staff were extremely friendly. Drinks and food really good quality and no complaints about the price as similar to any major European city. Will definitely return in order to visit the Fishmarket and can thoroughly recommend ths hotel. Many thanks to the Duty Managers for their professionalism and we hope to see them again soon.

We recently stayed over night at the Intercontinental Hotel Abu Dhabi. We had booked a sea view room and on check in was offered an upgrade to an Intercontinental Club Room with a view of the Emirates Palace. We took this to mean that we had access to the Intercontinental Club facilities but this was not the case. In fact, the room was at the front of the hotel (you could hear traffic noise all night even though we were on the 15th floor + someone's car alarm went off in the car park in the early hours of the morning - unfortunate). As for the Emirates Palace view - you had to virtually stand on a 90 degree angle to see it - the room actually looked straight out to the park across the road and the busy road down stairs. When we questioned the front office staff we were told that the room was in fact the same size as the original room we had booked - the only difference was that we were on a higher floor. So - buyer be ware.

Bathroom was generous in size - towels a bit scruffy. Room had a King Bed + we had a rollwerway for our 8 year old (had to request 3 times for this to be brought to the room).

Had lunch inhouse which was nice and late night coffee/desert in the lobby bar - pricey. The pool is a bit sad and in need of an update.

Glad we were only staying one night as a stopover. It appeared to be a popular hotel for business travellers but to us - it was a little soul-less. For us, this property was disappointing.

The Hotel is situated at a Yachtclub with a wonder view. It has a very nice poo that would need some renovation at some spots. The rooms and fittings are spotless and very nice. The private beach is in about 5 minutes walking distance and is more than a bay instead of a real beach at the ocean.
There are only two bad things to say about this hotel:
1) The staff is awful - they have no idea about what service is and dont expect anything from them. Expecially the Concierge and Front Desk is really bad - housekeeping and pool staff are ok.
2) The business center is a joke: Only two computers and printout costs of one Euro per page...

I have stayed at this hotel on and off over a period of ten years and have never once left the hotel feeling displeased about any aspect of my stay. I have always been greeted warmly, provided wth a lovely room or suite and all my requirements during my stays have been very well catered for. There is a lovely swimming pool and beach and the health club is first rate.

The location of the location of the hotel is excellent and is ideally located for The Emirates Palace or the Corniche and the staff at the hotel will help you with getting to any location in and around Abu Dhabi. I highly recommend this hotel.

To us a room in a genuine 5 star hotel should be one where your neighbours can check in or out at 4 a.m and you would know absolutely nothing about it. Walls should be thick. Floors should be concrete. All doors, including the lifts should close with a gentle click rather than a bang. Next doors plumbing should never be an issue. In other words - excellent sound proofing. The Intercontinental has all this. Non-smoking rooms should be rooms where no one has had a cigarette. Ever! Reception staff should be numerous, slick and courteous. Room service should deliver inside of 5 minutes. Rooms should be serviced twice a day every day. The rooms should be spacious with a good bed, a nice bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, plenty of storage space, with wi-fi and multi-channel tv. There should be plenty of lifts so you never have to wait. The Intercontinental has all this too. The pool is large with plenty of sun beds and there is a small stretch of beach as well. There is also a nice gym and health club. Drinks are expensive but that’s typical of The Emirates but the Intercontinental are not at all petty like some upmarket hotels. They will give you as much bottled water as you can drink for free. In short it’s fantastic hotel with a great location. The Emirates Palace is a 5 dirham (£1 current x-rates) cab ride away and the fare to the Marina Mall is about 6 dirhams. The Marina Mall has a large food court which is good value - by Abu Dhabi standards -for families at lunchtime. The hotel is about 40 minutes from the airport and the meter cab fare is about 70 dirhams. Yas Island which is the location of both the Grand Prix circuit and the golf course are both a lot nearer to the airport than downtown Abu Dhbi.

Things to be aware of though are the hotels own taxis will cost you a lot more than meter cabs so we always asked for meter cabs. The food in the hotel is good with a fine selection of restaurants and a nice bar on the top floor with a good view but you get a much better one from the revolving restaurant at the top of the Royal Meridien at the other end of the Corniche which Abu Dhabi makes a big fuss of but is really just a beach front road at the moment although it is developing all the time. The ostentatious Emirates Palace is a must but you must wear long trousers - even in the daytime. We ate out at the Emirates Palace a few times and in some of the restaurants e.g Anar (Persian restaurant) the prices are quite reasonable e.g £30 each which for a meal in a 7 star hotel is a bargain.

We have been to Dubai three times but we much preferred Abu Dhabi. It’s a lot smaller and easier to get around. We will definitely be going back and when we do we will have no hesitation in staying at The Intercontinental. Thanks to Bruno and Hesham for their hospitality at the drinks evening.
