This hotel is well located in the centre of the city and the staff were terrific, nothing was too much trouble. They went out of there way to assist WMD make our stay most enjoyable.

Spent a night in 2 adjoining rooms on non-smoking 12th floor. Parking is NOT included nor provided. You have to pay meters on the street from 8am to 9pm or park underground across the street in a shopping ctr lot. It was a pain in the butt. Roomk was small but clean. Pool was heated and clean. Ate at Chinese restuarant for lunch - quick, friendly service and ample portions. They offer a choice of any beef or chicken dish, steamed white rice and soda/water for 48dhs. There's also a French rest and a pub and a club that would NOT be a place to take your wife for obvious reasons...Easy to get to Yas Island/Ferrari World (20-25 minutes) and Emirates Palace/Marina Mall (10-15 Mins). Shiekh Zayed Mosque takes longest due to traffic.
Area is old AD, so very busy, crowded and somewhat rundown. OK for business or a night or 2, but I wouldn't stay here for a vacation.

I was in this hotel for couple of hours. In my opinion, location was good, there were a lot of shops, restaurants, bus station and even exchange office around. Room was clean and comfortable and the rate was good via Booking.com

I got a tremendous rate from Bookings.com for one night last Friday and wasn't expecting a great deal but came away feeling I had value for money. I parked in the underground car park at The Liwa Centre 50 metres away (AED15 for 24 hours) and was in room 1604 in a couple of minutes from getting to reception. It was a dark room because it had one small east facing window but it was clean and reasonably well appointed. I was changed and out in 20 minutes. The fifth floor pool was a disappointment because it was in the shadow of the hotel by the time I got there. I had a nice cheap beer in the first floor bar at teatime and went out to eat. Coming back at midnight I tried Blitz which was a real Ally Pally experience, so went on to bed. I slept well, the shower was decent, the towels really good and then checked out without trying breakfast. Starbucks is over the road. This place was less than half the cost of Le Meridien, Le Royal Meridien, The Sheraton, Aloft (all of which I rate higher) BUT the staff were good, the bar was fine and the package well worth the money. I've already re-booked for two nights next month. Just accept the limitations and enjoy the price.

Room Tip: Its a tall thin hotel surrounded by other tall buildings, not much except city views from small wind...

You have to understand Abu Dhabi before you understand the Novotel (recently re-branded as a Mecure). This is a second generation hotel. There are a few of these and they should not really be compared to the newer generation, such as the Sheratons (both of which are very good). The Novotel is slap bang in the town with easy access to business and recreation. The rooms have been down-sized over recent years so they can be trifle "snug" but they are all comfortable, well-furnished and clean. Look past the over-use of sombre marble in the decor and you will find just a good, solid place to stay. The bar inside the hotel is pleasant (although it has some of the most miserable staff in town) and the restaurants are perfectly acceptable. One word of warning. Unless you know what you are letting yourself in for, don't go to the Blitze Disco. The connecting door to this venue is closed off from inside the hotel so its a short hop around the corner to a separate entrance. This place is dark, noisy and is a prime venue for some of Abu Dhabi's less salubrious clientele.

Room Tip: Prime location in original urban abu dhabi

Unfortunately for us this hotel was booked for us and it would not have been our choice, for the same cost or less we could have stayed in a far superior hotel, as one of our colleges did. The hotel itself has a tired feel about it. The rooms are small. We booked free wifi but this only reached the 5th floor, we were on the 10th floor. The hotel has no parking facility of its own the only parking is on meters near the rear of the hotel they are costly and need feeding regularly. The breakfast was average at best and excessively expensive @ approx £16 each, but there are plenty of restaurant/cafes in walking distance offering various culinary delights for a fraction of the cost. The restaurant at night was no better. The staff was 100% in every respect and a credit to the hotel. The hotel does have a small swimming pool and gym both were excellent.

Room Tip: If you need WiFi book 5th floor or lower anything higher it doesn't work
