On holiday we styled for 3 nights between 3 at Qasr al Sarab (excellent) and moving on to the Banyan Tree in the Seychelles (very good) from where this is written.
The hotel is very centrally located just off the Corniche and would be ideal if we were on a business trip that most others seemed to be. We had a non-smoking room on floor 2 that was fine if rather bland and characterless.
Breakfasts was good with first class patisseries, dinner was OK and the grazing in the foyer on the 24 hour nibble bar afforded by having half board was good.
Staff were efficient on the front desk but the bar staff were slow and disinterested. The lounge was populated by business men on their own looking board and reading their blackberries.
Apart from the Sheik Zahed mosque that is well worth seeing, Abu Dhabi is boring. Ferrari world is an overpriced red Disneyland and the souks (Iranian, Carpet and Central) all bland, only the fish souk was of any interest.
Hiding behind the swimming pool is PJ O'Reilly's an Irish pub full of fat, boring ex-pat misogenists all talking loudly about home - QED.
Our last night was a Friday with a wedding in the reception hall directly below us. With a 5am departure for the airport we had to ask to move away from the noise. Gym was OK.
