“Title: I find it hard not to give this hotel a five but have stayed in slightly better.”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

This hotel was booked for me by someone else on a cheap deal through Last Minute.com. On arrival the booking had not been registered so there was a delay but the receptionist and other hotel staff made my comfortable, brought coffee and showed genuine concern. When the booking was finally confirmed I was given an upgrade to a larger room in in the new 7 storey tower and this was superbly equipped with all facilities, free wi-fi etc. The only meal I had in the hotel was a room service full English breakfast, obviously the bacon and the sausage involved no pork but the meal was delivered hot and was not expensive for this type of hotel. In the hotel grounds in Abu Dhabi's only Irish bar. Packed to the rafters on the two nights I visited, an excellent covers band and a floor-filling DJ. If you want night-life this is probably the best in town. My main plus point about the hotel is the staff. Totally helpful and happy from the moment they open your car door and welcome you through to the time they close the door as you leave.

Was on a business trip in Abu Dhabi and stayed at the Royal Meridien for a few night. Was in a club room which is unfortunately in the part that has not been renovated, still the rooms were really nice and the bed was very comfortable. Didn't use the pool but it looks pretty inviting and it's nice that it has both its own bar and the terrace of PJ O'Reilly's bar next to it. The restaurants in the hotel are all of good quality as was the executive lounge. Would certainly stay here in again if I'm back in AD.

I don't normally like large hotels but the staff is very attentive and handles any question or problem very efficiently.

The place is clean and new and in great shape.

On Fridays there is a brunch that's great for families and individuals and also a rowdy happy hour with live music at poolside....there is plenty going on in the hotel it's fun but also good for business.

Fast wifi, they got me to join Starwood preferred guest which is a good idea.

The buffet is excellent however it's got a few too many odd foods and could use some basics like a better salad....if you like oddball seafood and crazy cheeses then it's for you....it's good either way.

Only complaint is the elevator.....by all that which is sensible can some manager reading this please spend 35 min on the elevator during peak times and watch the dozens of baffled customers get on, get off, unable to find their floor....people stuck on it because you have to press the button OUTSIDE the elevator and then take the certain one it tells you.

The elevator is the most ridiculously inefficient system known to mankind and the only person on all of planet earth who could ever consider it an improvement over the normal elevator system that every other place in the world uses (with floor buttons INSIDE the elevator) is the salesman who sold it and the designers grandmother....but that's only because she never used it....if she did she'd be lost for eternity and end up a withered skeleton on some unknown floor.

Good grief people, please.....fire whoever sold you that elevator, fire the guy who hired him and fire anyone they ever met.....the elevator is the colossally dumbest thing every to grace any hotel in the world. The only one I'd recommend the elevator for is someone who liked to play the strategy game Myst in the 90s. Seriously, do a poll of the next 100 guests who check out and ask them if the elevator is an improvement over normal elevators and if they liked being brought to random floors at a 3 to 1 ratio every time they went anywhere.....I guarantee it will be 98 to 2 against it and the 2 will only be because people didn't understand the question or are in a hurry to leave.

Overall, great hotel....worth the extra 45 seconds it takes to get floor to floor on the jegna elevator puzzle.

I especially like the pool area, the staff and the food (despite the oddball stuff on the buffet) -- highly recommended for singles, couples, families and business.

A well presented hotel in a decent location. Our check-in was quick and painless and the car park was pretty straight forward so there's no need for a valet service.

We enjoyed a few beers at the associated Irish bar along the pool, it was a bit (understatement) smoky inside and we fancied some air so drinks were enjoyed poolside. One should note, however, it was after pool hours had finished and the staff were in the process of putting up what I can only assume was an anti-drunk fence around the bar side of the pool. No matter, good company, not too expensive beers, complimentary popcorn, and a good number of songbirds made the hour or so a pleasant one.

There's a card system for calling the lifts, it too is pretty straightforward. Our room was on the 16th floor and the views over the cornice and the sea were an added bonus.

We enjoyed a walk through the nearby park with its ample cat supply and refrained from the thrilling rides available. Despite sarcasm, the park was nice enough.

Dinner buffet at across from the wheat themed baked goods was most enjoyable. A good selection of foods including a choose your own meats barbeque option. Sweets and deserts were extremely well presented and I reckon the banana pudding would have been the end of me if I wasn't so full already. Delicious.

The room was a standard, high quality room although with some funny options for lighting and I'm not sure what was being forced down my eardrums at one point whilst using the washroom. The option of an overhead, rain-type faucet in the showers was another nice touch.

Breakfast was similar to dinner the previous night, gigantic and tasty, I recommend the veal bacon and sausages over the turkey ones. We had called room service for our complimentary fruit basket in preparation for our day to Ferrari World, this was sufficient to get us through our day and all the way back to Dubai in the evening.

My single complaint, although it is a large one, was the noise. There was a birthday celebration downstairs and another reception, for a wedding, I believe. When the guests started filtering out about 02.00 they all found it necessary to honk their horns a number of times each. This carried on for two or more hours. I don't think this would have kept me up as my sleep pattern was off having just arrived from Canada via two nights in Germany. So maybe I should have travelled forward in time to eat the banana that arrived in the breakfast pack for potassium to help me sleep.
