“Great view from the top!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

I always make it a point that every time I come to Abu Dhabi that I wouldn't miss to have a coffee here with friends. It has great view and nice cafe, it offers pretty good selection of hot or iced coffee with some sweets or you can have your breakfast or lunch menu there. Service is good but it takes a while for the orders to come, anyway they should be improving in time. But still it's worth to come and just lounging and chilling. Going to the top is a bit scary if you're afraid of heights as you can see the entire Marina view while going up.

“Grat location, mediocre food and terrible service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2014

The »chest of gold« that success of this place lies on is its location. It is a cheaper of two restaurants situated high on the top of the Marina Mall Tower, both with great views of Abu Dhabi skyline. The other restaurant is higher class and more expensive, and, and that’s what works in Colombian House’s favor, you have to make a reservation at least half an hour up front, sometimes even longer. I made a mistake and declined the half an hour waiting for that other restaurant and thought that I’d be faster served at the Colombiano House. What a mistake!

Almost all of the elements of service in Colombiano House are terrible, except for politeness. With the exception of one moment when I did not receive an apology when it was due, the staff was never rude and was mostly polite. However, the service was the slowest that you can imagine. After a while you realize that for everything you want, you have to wave your both hands like a lunatic towards a staff member when she/he appears and beg for it.

When I ordered mushroom soup, the waitress came back quite a long time afterwards and informed me that they’re out of it. OK, that could happen anywhere, but why did I have to wait so long to be informed about it?

An older, respectfully looking Arabian couple, both dressed traditionally, sat at the table next to mine. Well, since being local, unlike me, they were not impressed by Abu Dhabi skyline while waiting for ever to be served, so the man at one moment stood up and protested. The waitress gave few vague excuses and promised that they’ll be served right away. When that didn’t happen in next two minutes, both man and his wife went away in polite anger. I doubt they’ll ever come back.

When my food finally came, it was nothing to comment on. It wasn’t anything especially good, it wasn’t awful. It was simply average.

However, as an icing on a cake, I was overcharged on the check. After protesting it, I simply got the new, correct check. No argument on the side of stuff, but also no apology. The new check was simply put in front of me in silence.

Lousy service is general characteristics of UAE restaurants. Before the Colombiano House in Abu Dhabi, I went to several Dubai restaurants and they all had stuff issues. However, none as severe as here.

And, at the end, do I recommend this joint to anyone? I don’t know, everyone should decide for him/herself. If waiting forever to be served by indifferent and flawed stuff is for someone only a small price to be paid for the great views – than go for it! Otherwise, stay away (or make reservation for the other, more expensive and most probably better serviced restaurant on the Tower).

We sat there while we were shopping at Marina Mall, i certainly loved the place and the ambiance . We ordered Salad, it is really tasty and mouth watering. Full of fresh tasty vegetables that i personally like. I surely recommend the place for a short break or a snack.Oh, ya the coffee there is nice as well.

“Rip off!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2014 via mobile

Visited with family following the Big Bus Tour. The tickets allow you 20% discount and free entry to the tower (which is just a coffee shop).

The service was terrible and after waiting 5 minutes for a menu it took another 5 to place the order. 3 latte's were ordered and when they came (10 minutes later) they were in very large mugs. I enquirer what size they were and the waiter advised "large".

After finishing the coffee, it took another 10 minutes to get the attention of any staff for the bill. When this arrived, the price for 3 coffees and a water was 92 AED!!! The water was 10 AED so for the coffee we were paying 27 AED each - after 20% discount!!

This place clearly overcharges and gives you the largest size drinks in order to compensate for the 20% discount offered with the tour tickets. All this does however is make you feel ripped off. Especially with the lazy and un-attentive staff.

If you have a big bus tour ticket, go up the tower for free and walk around but don't buy a coffee. No-one will notice you there for 10 minutes anyway!

“Caffe Latte”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

Good open air experience but you can only visit and enjoy this in winters as summers would't allow you to sit outside. Located in family park so you can have your kids with you, they can play while you enjoy the coffee
