From the second we arrived till the second we left the service was excellent the room was newly done with comfortable beds and small balcony over looking the very well laid out pool area we did not eat the first night as we thought hotel food is average at best but this is not the case here the buffet meals are presented and cooked to perfection with a great choice there was an extension of the hotel underway and there was no noise or anything to disturb you this was our first trip to UAE and our only regret was we did not stay longer and this hotel will be our destination on our return thanks to all at the Mafraq

Day at Mafraq:
6:15 - you wake up because staff need vacuum the corridor
6:30 - they are mowing the grass
breakfast: powdered/scrambled eggs & canned fruits, mostly
internet: very slow and ultra expensive. hopefully this is not a problem to
make it to work for free
8:00 (weekends) - stuff is knocking at your door bcause they NEED to clean
old, dirty carpet and change your A/C temp. Everyday.
evening: another vacuum cleaning so you want to go swimming...upss, it's opened
only till 20:30, so you're going to Hunter's Pub...ups, at 21:00 there's so
LOUD that you can braely hear your own thoughts
taxi service - if they arrange taxi for You, taxi driver will try to rip you off and charge min. twice as normal price.

We were there for a workshop which was organised in the hotel. It had a lovely ambience with a good swimming pool and kids pool.Other sports facilities included badminton ,squash and tennis. The hotel also had a mini zoo .
The only disadvantage was it was quite distant from the city though the hotel had a shuttle bus service.

We spent six nights at this hotel on our first visit to Abu Dhabi. Chose it because hotels closer to the city centre are so ridiculously expensive that we looked for an alternative.

We got a cheaper price here, although at roughly $400 per night it is hardly value for money. The room was ok, large, decent bed, reasonable bathroom. But breakfast isn't included and the buffet is quite ordinary, even mediocre. For example, most of the fruit wasn't fresh but canned, and the scrambled eggs were obviously made from powdered eggs, which is simply unforgiveable in a hotel in this price range. The largely Filipino staff was friendly.

The biggest problem with this hotel is its location. It is definitely NOT 20 minutes from the city centre (more like 45 minutes, realistically), and as another traveler has mentioned there is no shuttle to the airport, which isn't that close either. In fact the hotel is so in the middle of nowhere that more than half the taxi drivers we used couldn't find it! Two drivers got badly lost, and there are so few signs and landmarks around that it wasn't easy finding our way back.

We tried to eat one night in the "English Pub" at the hotel but the music was so bad and so earsplittingly loud that we left immediately.

I would definitely not stay at this hotel again.

I have never ever stayed in such an awful hotel or experienced such low standards. For a cost of almost 300 British Pounds (600 US Dollars) for the night, I received a room without ANY running water, a scorched carpet that looked like it had been set on fire and the most terrible smell of damp I have ever experienced. The hotel advertised a shuttle bus from the airport. No such shuttle bus exists so I had to spend an extra 100 USD dollars extra for taxis. Not to mention that extra 16% tax and tourist tax. Despicable. I would advise not to stay here if you can avoid it.
