“Special but Spoilt”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

All the positive reviews encapsulating the various aspects of Emirates Palace Hotel need not be repeated. Everything about it is what you expect. For my wife and I it was a special two day treat for her birthday before her return to the UK and for both of us another 'to do' ticked off the list. We stayed at the hotel for the two nights of 12/13th June. As described the staff, food and ambiance were excellent. The one major thing that spoilt our visit was one the second morning. We returned to our room at 09.25 after breakfast to find the room being made up by two housekeeping staff - we assumed for aesthic benefit but no. We established that the room was being made up in its entireity for the next guests. Given that we were not checking out until 12 noon we both felt annoyed and disappointed that a hotel of this calibre undertook to change a room when it was still essentially rented out. While the staff involved were polite it was clear that they were going to make up the room regardless of the fact we wanted to change and use the hotel's facilities. On checking out I asked that my complaint be formally recorded but to date no explanation or apology has emanated so as a customer service assessor - its nil point in all respects. All in all a wonderful experience spoiled by the apparent desire for a quick turn around of rooms/guests. I may have expected this from other hotels but not Emirates Palace. Alpha Omega.

I visited several time this property and I always find it superb; it's not the case anymore .The hotel is still stunning but the food is getting bad. Me and my lady friends enjoyed the pool restaurants for the quality and the variety of the menu, now what you get is a small poor salad served in a soup bowl!!!!!! and the price increased...Not worth coming back....better stay in Dubai.

Never been so impressed with a hotel... Free Valet Parking upon arrival. While checking in, the helpful Guest Relation Officer offered us a cold towel, drinks, dates and even a bouquet of roses... super impressive! She gave us a tour of the place, introduced us to our room and our butler and also offered us free tapas with a drink at the hotel beach bar.
And don't get me started on the pool... AMAZING with the bar in the pool itself!

If I'm coming back to Abu Dhabi, I'll definitely be booking another stay with Emirates Palace Hotel.

Note that this place is probably best for couples and family and not so much for business... service is comprehensive but not as speedy!

The good things about this hotel:
1) You'll never get bored in this place, there are so much things to do!
2) Very nice pool and beach area
3) Kid-friendly
4) Gym has ample machines and is open 24 hours
5) Thoughtful arrangements (cake and balloons in the room) on my son's birthday.

The things that aren't that good:
1) Very touristic, it feels like you are entering a museum as you walk through the hotel
2) Rooms are not that luxurious as I thought (I prefer the rooms at the St. Regis Saadiyat)
3) Again, my high expectation on food wasnt met, buffet restaurant doesnt have much variety to choose from and it has a dress code!
4) Our room requirements were not met despite of communicating this to the hotel upon reservation, I requested for connecting rooms (or at least rooms that are next/close to each but end up occupying rooms that are in both ends (well, at least they are on the same floor/wing!)

As summer arrives and temperatures rise in the UAE, the number of guests at this magnificent hotel diminishes, which means fantastic offers on prices, quiet pools and beach as well as a sense of an opulent retreat which may have been made just for you. Yes, it is grand and overwhelming, gold glitters everywhere and the marble decor is definitely over the top, which reminds one that this is not a mere hotel, but indeed a palace.

Expect attentive costumer service, a personal butler on call, staff which are pleasant without invading your privacy. The room we stayed in (coral -king size) was huge and as opulently decorated as the rest of the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable, the mini-bar well stocked, luxuriously soft bathrobes and velvety slippers provided.

The hotel is HUGE, so it depends on which wing (east/west) you're staying, it may take you about 5 minutes to walk to the main dome and the restaurant where the most excellent breakfast is served. There is a golf car to take you from one pool to the other and a Bedouin tent with camels and Arabic coffee served by the beach.

I am not sure if I could stay in this hotel for a long period, as one is not used to such a grand range of commodities, however as a nice treat Emirates Palace made me feel like royalty!

Room Tip: The East wing is next to the kids pool, and the West next to the adults pool, so request a room base...
