My wife, little boy & I decided to stay here for 1 night. We wanted to see more of Abu Dhabi instead of Dubai for a change.
Travelling from Al Ain, the hotel was very easy to find. Although I did use maps on my mobile phone because I'm not used to Abu Dhabi.
The location was very good. Close to fast food places & restaurants, close to Abu Dhabi mall & Al Wahda Mall, also close to the corniche. The corniche is stunning! Huge promenade that stretches alongside the beach. It has kiosks along the way with food, drinks & ice creams.
We arrived at the hotel and the valet came to greet us right away. Doors opened for us and a polite greeting. He unpacked our luggage from the car onto the trolley and took it into reception.
Checking in was very easy and quick. We did have a slight hiccup as we booked a king sized bed but was given 2 twin beds. So back down to reception and the issue was resolved no problem.
We even managed to check in 1 hour earlier than we were supposed too.
When booking online, I did request a main corniche view and maybe something complimentary towards us celebrating our wedding anniversary (other hotels have done this).
We didn't get the main corniche view, wasn't too bothered, but no effort was made or we didn't get an explanation why we couldn't have it. Also, no message or gifts etc were given towards our wedding anniversary. Once again, wasn't too bothered, just no effort made again (other hotels have done this).
We requested a cot for our baby which wasn't in the room ready. So after a quick call to reception, they brought one right up.
After unpacking and settling in, we got changed and went up to the rooftop swimming pool.
It has amazing views over the corniche, city and boat yard with the abras/dhows.
The only thing I can really complain about would be the safety. Both pools didn't have depth indicators, letting us know how deep the pools were. The kids pool was quite deep too! I would never let a child swim alone in there. I am 6ft 1" and the water was about my waist level.
Also, because of the stylish and modern build of the hotel, the flooring around the pool was marble like tiles. Very very slippery! There wasn't any 'caution/warning slippery floor' signs (even though it was obvious). I think they should have anti slip flooring like in water parks.
On the plus side, there was a board that showed pool temperatures and they were warm.
Our room was very nice. I was very surprised. For the price and location, I expected an average room, uncomfortable bed and a bit dirty. But no! It was perfect!
The room was very spacious. Big TV on the wall, huge comfortable bed, nice bathroom. All very modern!
The down sides to the room though, the bedside lamps didn't work. When our son went to sleep, we either had the option of all lights on, or no lights on.
Also, the big tv on the wall which was nice (Sony Bravia!), didn't work! No channels worked as the tv wasn't setup. So we couldn't watch tv and we couldn't read either.
The interconnecting door was tried a few times by our neighbours. Just trying to open it a few times. Also, their tv was very loud! (At least their tv worked!). The rooms certainly aren't sound proof.
I can sleep through anything so I'm lucky, but my wife was awake throughout the night a lot! She said the same neighbours with the loud tv, were up until 3am!!! They were in the hall talking with friends and being very loud. Then they all went into their room to continue talking loudly.
Last little problem before the round up... the private car park out back isn't huge. This is because it's still being built. There are bricks and tools everywhere. And because of the building going on, there were disgusting puddles of smelly, dirty liquid.
All in all though, the hotel itself is fantastic. It's very modern and stylish. Very affordable and a great location. All staff are very polite and helpful, no problems there. Comfortable bed, spacious rooms and very clean.
It's a 4 star hotel, but I'd even given 41/2 stars.
It's just a shame about those little issues. It just needs those minor improvements met and the hotel and surroundings would be perfect!
I'd definitely recommend anyone to stay here, even though I'd say it's more for business, singles or couples. Hasn't really got things for kids.
I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
