“Best Time to Visit”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2013

We happened to be in Abu Dhabi during their national day celebration. We walked to the Heritage Village from the Marina Mall because the road was blocked off. The village itself was a little run down with some interesting buildings and traditional craftsmen demonstrating their trades. the village offers a glimpse of traditional Arabic cultures, which is almost nonexistent throughout the rest of the city. The village runs into a beach with great views of the Emirates Palace hotel and Abu Dhabi. While I gave the village a '3 star' rating, our experience was a 4 or 5. We visited during the National Day weekend when a mini festival was happening with traditional music, free henna painters, art exhibits and food. Our group of 5 was almost the only westerners so this turned into one of our most authentic experiences of the trip.

Good place to hangout however not that much attractive.. you can see the traditional living of middle east people in a small place... the sightings of sky scrappers in abu dhabi is worth to see..

“Great views of modern Abu Dhabi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

Well maintained heritage village down by the beach with great views across the water to the skyline of modern Abu Dhabi. It is near the Marina shopping mall although the walk is about 15 minutes in blistering heat so better to take a taxi. My visit was about half an hour and I spent most of this on the beach taking photos of the skyline, the fish in the sea and some young jet skiers who were putting on an impromptu performance! There are some really nice artisan work shops in the heritage village where you can buy hand made gifts at reasonable prices. There was also a camel which was nice.

“Run-down but interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

Although "closed", the front door of the museum was open so our driver took us in anyway.

There were no traders or demonstrations (obviously, because it was closed) but it was interesting to spend 15 minutes wandering between the recreations of traditional building styles. We met the resident ducks, admired the shady gardens and took numerous photos of the city skyline on the facing shore. A pleasant diversion and probably no less interesting for being closed, as we had the place to ourselves and nobody tried to sell us anything!

The whole place looks shabby and uncared for, in contrast to every other place we visited in the area, but it did feel authentic and was worth the visit.

“Could be Better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

The glitz and glamor that is Abu Dhabi, just across the "Creek" by the breakwater, is off-set by the Heritage Village's depiction of what Emirate life was like in days of old. It is worth a visit and the beaches located here are very beautiful. The view of the Corniche and city skyline also makes this worth a visit.
Don't expect to be overwhelmed, it is what it is. However, do appreciate the old and the new and check the box. I believe the Heritage Village in Dubai is much more interesting and better maintained, but if you are in Abu Dhabi and have time, check it out. There is always the Marina Mall to behold and get refreshed at with the many restaurants there.
