We happened to be in Abu Dhabi during their national day celebration. We walked to the Heritage Village from the Marina Mall because the road was blocked off. The village itself was a little run down with some interesting buildings and traditional craftsmen demonstrating their trades. the village offers a glimpse of traditional Arabic cultures, which is almost nonexistent throughout the rest of the city. The village runs into a beach with great views of the Emirates Palace hotel and Abu Dhabi. While I gave the village a '3 star' rating, our experience was a 4 or 5. We visited during the National Day weekend when a mini festival was happening with traditional music, free henna painters, art exhibits and food. Our group of 5 was almost the only westerners so this turned into one of our most authentic experiences of the trip.
