We enjoyed the museum within the village and would have loved to have brought home some copies of the photos in it. Very interesting to see how the whole place has developed since the 1960's.
I was really interested in the crafts and some were really fascinating, with some people working on their goods. I bought a glass cup for my collection and met the man who made it, which I always like to do if possible.
However, one of the areas was just tourist tat and spoiled it for me. I know that people have to make a living but it was just a shame that it made up a large part of the site.
I would recommend a visit, but try and make sure that you are on your way to somewhere else or on the way back as it is not worth a trip on its own.

Heritage village is a great way to see what the UAE was like pre oil. Located on the Corniche, with skyscrapers on the horizon, it's a perfect mix of old and new. There are stalls that sell souvenirs and is set up like an old souk. There is a small museum that shows you pictures of the city in the late 60's and can really help those appreciate how far the UAE has come in such a short amount of time. Make sure to visit the shops where local goods are made. My favorite are the robe and textile shops as the men working there are very welcoming. One will see different houses found in the olden days within the region. Also a possibility to ride a camel for a tip. Free to visit and have a look around. Always follow up a visit to heritage village with a drink at Emirates Palace to see the difference between now and then.

The village has potential, however it is a little run down and amaturish. With a little help this place could work, however it seems to have been left behind. There are a number of nteresting traditional craft displays that are worth seeing.
Why with all the money that is going into so many other cultural sights some is not being spent here I am not sure.
It is worth a visit but dont expect a modern facility. To be fair you would call this one quaint

If you are not fond of historical place and a way back from the past (Emirati culture) then this place is not for you. It is open for the public so you can just stop by and see the place yourself. It is not well-maintained though (some part of it inside the heritage) as compared from the last time we visited here. It's best to come here during the sunset as you can have a spot there where you can just sit on the sand and watch the sun as it fades. Souvenir items are available but quite limited. :)

Caught a taxi to come and see this and found most of the village shut . The main gate was open so it was in open hours of my visit. Souvenir shops were open. Side by side and all the same gear. Only one attraction inside the village was open. All others wre closed or roped off. Very disappointing. Don't bother with this place. It's a waiste of taxi fare and time.
