“WORST DINNER in Middle East”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

I have been travelling for a week staying in different properties between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and having dinners in a lot of properties around. I can definitely affirm that the Emirates Palace was the worst one. Even I can say that it was one of the worst dinner experiences in my life. I was in the Sayad restaurant (specialty seafood and fish). The location is very good and the ambience is very nice but the food is terrible. We ate a platter of seafood for 750AED and it was totally disgusting. It should be a selection of the food that they have but this is what I found: The lobster was not fresh at all; I think it was in a freezer for weeks. The selection of fish almost the same, even they served cold. The mussels were very small, most of them even empty, and they hide all of this with a lot of prawns in between. The waiter realized that we didn’t like it because we had bad faces and almost all the food in the table. He didn’t ask for a feedback and even he left us along us we were one of the last tables. We paid the bill and we left, of course everything very expensive. We felt totally ripped off.
Conclusion: nice building, poor service, bad food and expensive hotel.

“Enjoyed the evening”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

We visited the reataurant during our stay in Emirates Palace Hotel on halfboard.

Food was nice, service as well. Wine choice per glas was limited and didn't turn out perfect for us.

Service was good, some Germans on the team. We booked a table outside, lovely setting. Our table was next to a small stage with a saxophone player. The music was awesome! Simply too loud for us who wanted to talk.

All in all a nice experience!

“Poor value and weird service”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

As with most restaurants inside hotels in Abu Dhabi the food here is quite over priced for what you get. We were each served with a complimentary seared tuna and watermelon amuse-bouche which was pleasant enough.

Wine list had a reasonable selection. For a purportedly high end restaurant like this I'd appreciate a more sophisticated choice of beers/lagers - come on Fosters or Stella doesn't cut it anymore guys, this needs to be brought up to date. To be fair it's the same throughout Abu Dhabi. We ended up choosing the Chilean Red (Escudo Rojo 2010) which I'd recommend.

For mains we had the grilled Hammour and the lobster which were each served with a side of mashed potato. Food was tasty enough but again not worth the lofty price tag. Chocolate souffle for dessert was rather good.

Service was weird and far too clinical. The waitress insisted on putting on white gloves whenever pouring drinks and wanted to remove our full bottles of water and wine from the table so we couldn't help ourselves - annoying!

Ambience was fine, nothing to write home about. Saxophonist playing cheesy 80's tunes and when he's taking a break it's more 80's power ballads from the CD player.

Outdoor area is nice with some pleasant fountains and good view of the beach.

Price for:
- Bottle of still water
- Glass of white wine
- Bottle of Warsteiner
- Grilled Hamour
- Lobster
- Side of veg
- 1 chocolate souffle
- Bottle of red wine
TOTAL £177

Also watch out for the 10% service charge and 6% tourism fee which is not included in the menu price. A lot of the other hotels quote an all inclusive price.

“Best sea food ever”
Reviewed 30 December 2013 via mobile

Food cooked to perfection, i had the lobster for a main dish and clam chowder soup.very good service, great ambience ( very romantic) and music was just right ( thanks sax player). You need to book in advance and get extra cash with you as it is a high end restaurant.

The saxaphone player made this restaurant - he was absolutely ecellent as you sit outside overlooking the fountains. All of the staff are great - Mary Beth in particular could not have been more helpful and the restaurant manager was so friendly - made our evening - the food is delicious - cannot be faulted and the setting is exquisite.
