Very peaceful stay, and the family running this hotel / bed and breakfast could not be any nicer or more helpful. The building is very attractive and unique. It feels more like a lodge experience you would have in the mountains (hence, 'chateau'). It is location just outside the core center of Punta del Este in a wonderful residential neighborhood.
The service was excellent. We had arrived late after driving down from Punta del Diablo. The hotel owner's daughter greeted us and checked us in quickly so we could make a late dinner out. We asked her for restaurant suggestions and also asked about vineyard tours in the area. We asked about one we knew of, which she confirmed was nice, and while we were preparing for dinner she contacted the vineyard and set up a tour for us the following day. She also called the restaurants she had suggested to make sure they were still open and not too busy (for reservation). She had everything detailed for us on a note-pad when we left for dinner.
We met the owner during breakfast the next day. She was really nice and asked all about our travels and even offered some suggestions. Breakfast was very good (fresh breads, ham/cheese, panini grill, many savory sweets, banana bread, granola/cereal, milk, yogurts, fresh juices, coffees and teas). I recommend sitting outside for breakfast. The setting is very peaceful. There is also a TV / living room with a fireplace, couches, and lounge chairs that is very comfortable.
The room we were in was a bit small, but there is a whole section of rooms in the back, so those might be larger. As for the room, the bathroom was completely renovated with contemporary fixtures and tile. The bed and room were very comfortable. There was a large flatscreen and a fully stocked refrigerator, along with a patio door leading out into a landscaped area. There were some parts of the room that I noticed were not updated during renovations, such as the closet doors and shelves (they finished renovating the entire complex in late 2012 and opened in January of 2013), but that did not bother us. If you are looking for a trendy, modern or fully renovated hotel in the heart of Punta, this might not be for you. If you are looking for an enjoyable stay in a clean, cozy, and charming hotel in a unique residential area, this is it.
One last note: we had left behind a camera battery charger with a charger adapter. We reached Montevideo and noticed then that the owner had emailed us (no mobile tele on us) shortly after we checked out and asked if she could sent the items somewhere. She insisted, but we convinced her to let it go or give it to another guest.
We found a reasonable price on Booking.com in mid-April, which is a few weeks into low season.
Follow link below for winery. It was an excellent tour, I highly recommend it, and only about a 20 minutes drive from hotel...
Sorry no pics of hotel. Only pics of winery.
