We made a trip to Uruguay with my friends during the summer season. We were spoilt with steaks and wines from Buenos Aires and also the great prices with the blue dollar exchange rate.. In Uruguay, we were just surprised by everyday rain, so not much left but eating and drinking.. Not easy though to find a good restaurant in Punta del Este, where you can have a good quality meal for a reasonable price.. Well we found it all in El Tucan! And even more.. Very pleasant personnel! Definitely try the grilled provolone cheese and one of the steaks with their great home-made chimichurri sauce :-))

We were recommended el tucán by a Uruguayan friend. We went 7 out of 10 of our night in punta. The food is delicious - best steak in town- Ojo de bife. Fainá to die for. The most friendly and well run restaurant you could hope to find run by Freddy and his amazing team. We loved every visit and are now struggling in Carrasco to find anything to compare. We were treated like family and we will definitely return and tell all our friends about it!

Long time since finding enough alternatives in a menu , fish with prawns and garlic, pasta, pizza, with an excellent service and ambience , with the owner always close to the customers, and all these at unbeatable prices.

Great food and hands-on management, which ensures everything goes smoothly. Prices are very reasonable for overpriced Punta del Este.

I went to this place because of the good reputation it has here at trip advisor, and in fact, the food is amazing, we had the brotola fish, delicious. The problem is the ambient is really hot during the summer. Hard to stay inside, especially because of the oven.
