“Agood hotel but a very noisy neighborhood”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

We arrived at the hotel as a group. The staff was very helpfull. The rooms are not big but very clean. But although there was double glazing our room faced the street and was very noisy. We ate at the restaurant on the top flor, the view of all La Paz was outstanding, the food was good there is a salad bar included in the main course but the service was very very slow.

The view of La Paz from the Presidente Hotel's restaurant is fabulous
As part of a group booking we dined in this supposedly 5 star hotel and waited for about an hour to get our meals. When tasting my main course meal I was amazed to find that it was cold. Several others in our group also reported that their meal was also cold.
After alerting our Tour Guide (he was the one that organised the restaurant) to the problem he arranged for the meals to be sent back. When my steak returned it was warm but well done and not medium rare as ordered.
We were not happy with the restaurant's offer of a free Whiskey Sour so our Tour Leader arranged for our bill to be discounted by 50%.
To be fair some our group had an enjoyable meal.

We arrived in La Paz at 17:30 pm on a Friday after more than 10 hours of traveling from Machu Pichu . This was our first visit to Bolivia so I wasn't really sure what to expect.

First: The service was good. Second : The rooms are spacious and the furniture is clasic Third: One of the main attraction is the location!!!! There's a currency exchange house across the street.

Room Tip: nothing special

Big rooms, nice view over La Paz. Breakfast nice and with a great choice of food.
We had a smoking room with we preffer. There is a Pharmacie ( in ) next to the hotel, we found verry handy, because my wife had a problem with the hight. Service in the hotel is quick and good. We wanted to take a cab and they adviced us to walk instead, that was a verry good idea. We would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were initially impressed by the good location and the pleasent reception staff. The rooms do small of smoke and are dated but OK. Breakfast is not brilliant but passable.
However it all went wrong on Saturday. They run functions every Friday and Saturday night (according to reception staff) and the noise is unbearable. The base from the "music" reverberates throughout the hotel meaning that our bed vibrated. The "DJ" shouted so loud that I could here him clearly in our 7th floor room. At 1.30am we were moved to a room on the 13th floor where we could still here the noise but it was muted. We put up a do not disturb sign but the staff still thought it Ok to hoover the next door room at 8.15
On Sunday we asked to speak to a manager about experience but apparantly they do not have a manager working on a Sunday! The receptionist tried to resolve the issue by offering an upgrade for our remaining night but we did not want to be bothered with moving our luggage when there is not a function tonight. They also offered us a meal in the restaurant but we had not been impressed with the food (although the service was good) when we had eaten there and declined this.

I am sure that this hotel is OK when there is not a function on but they should consider that they are a hotel and not have loud noise until gone 2am.

This is supposedly a 5 star hotel but I would not say so. 4 star maybe as it is a little dated BUT I cannot fault the service or the rooms and generous buffet breakfast. Wide variety of cakes, pastries, breads and hot eggs, sausages plus cereals and yoghurt. They provide a welcome drink and I enjoyed a pisco sour at their bar. Furniture is dated but comfortable and rooms were warm and toasty!
Loved my huge bathroom with bath tub in it with awesome hot water pressure!
Internet use was great as there are 3 computers available.
Everything is walkable ESP the witch markets.
Excellent stay!
