“Great Place and oasis from the chaotic city”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

The hotel is in a nicer part of the city - Sopocachi. Nicer restaurants nearby and traffic on the street outside, Capitan Ravelo, is not as crazy as elsewhere. It is not too close to the tourist attractions, but not too far. The area looks like more for the local middle or upper middle class when they go to the city.

It is an aparthotel - and the size the room is big as it is an apartment by itself with a kitchen and a big bathroom. The sleeping room is separated from the living room, and you can actually live there for months. I stayed here at the end of my trip to Bolivia, after the visit to the Salar de Uyuni and other remote areas, the big bathroom is a real treat with hot showers.

The decoration is not the latest, looks more like early 1990s. The best of the room is that it comes with a balcony with good view of the city. the balcony is huge, and I think on a sunny day, you can actually suntan there!

The lobby of the hotel looks classy, more a business hotel or for longer stay definitely than one for tourists. The hotel charge a very reasonable price as my stay probably is during a low season for business travellers.

I also stayed in another hotel La Casona, and they are two different types of hotels. It is not easy to say which one is better, and I think it is a matter of personal choice and preferences. To me, having this hotel at the end of my visit to Bolivia is a good ending which I prefer.

after a long day of roaming around la paz, it is a great feeling to come "home" to this hotel, which does feel like home. our 2 bedroom aparthotel unit featured a kitchen, two bathrooms, and two rooms and a living room with dining table. the beds were so soft and comfy especially compared to our rock hard beds in uyuni. it had great views of el alto and the city, and the service here is impeccable. we were always able to ask the hotel to help us find things, exchange our money, and eating at La Tranquera is not only convenient, but it has some of the best and classy food in la paz so don't just think this is a hotel restaurant. it's one of the best in la paz. get the sizzling steak with the sausage. yum. overall, this hotel is in a nice neighborhood in la paz and the room and space you get is worth the money. i haven't stayed in other hotels in la paz so i can't compare but as a stand alone rating, i give it 5 stars.

Room Tip: you can exchange money here. the rate is pretty decent and saves you some hassle.

We choose the hotel due to the location and unbeatable value. We booked an apartment on 11th floor with balcony. The view was amazing and room too. It was very spaceous, with separate living room, bedroom and also kitchen. The price was very low for a 5 star hotel and I kind of understand why. I also work in hotel industry, so I kind of know what to expect. For example shower was worse then in 1 star hotel, very old shower head, very tight and a curtain, not sliding door; that was a shock. Also on the last day they left us only with one already used roll of toilet paper, with no spare one.
Food in the restaurant was very good, not just the for lunch and dinner, but also the complimentary breakfast. However most of the staff was very slow and hardly speaking English.
We also booked a city tour from the hotel, which was really nice. Our tour guide Victor was excellent.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on 11, 12 and 13th floors.

My fiancée and I booked here for 3 nights for our 2 year anniversary and we were not disappointed. First of all we were in apartment e2 right at the top of the hotel with an amazing balcony and fantastic views of the city. Apartment was spacious, bed massive, wifi very good, kitchen well stocked although we didn't do much cooking!!! We enjoyed just hanging out in a very spacious apartment compared to our previous hostels.

Great selection at breakfast

Staff very friendly and always willing to help,

Late checkout time of 2pm which suited us fine after our death road experience the previous day,

In a quiet area of town near some good restaurants, we recommended Pronto. There was a supermarket closeby too.

Only criticism was the sauna was out of order during our stay but it didn't take anything away from the experience

We stayed for 11 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment, lucky us!

First must mention the staff, all really friendly and efficient. Most of all obviously happy and enjoy working there, it makes a difference.

Nice touches like fresh biscuits in reception and chocolates with bed turn down.

Large apartments in good repair, giant beds, very comfy. Maybe a touch dated if you are used to boutique hotels but you won't find much better at the price.

Kitchen not really set up to be used, we had to buy salt, pepper, oil, washing up kit etc. Don't mention the tin opener and the frying pan had seen better days! Useful to have a large fridge.

Decent speed WiFi everywhere, fridge snacks and drinks not overpriced.

Breakfast great and if you want a cappuccino etc. just ask, it's included. Restaurant has a great value salad bar lunch. A la carte is good but expensive although useful if you are feeling lazy and don't want to walk out. 2 good restaurants are just 5 minutes walk past the Radisson and uphill, Pronto and La Comedie worth trying. A 10BS/kilo laundry and big supermarket are in the same direction.

15 minute walk to San Francisco Square and Witches Market etc.

Even better rates for 10+ night stays, just ask.

A great place, strongly recommend.

Great hotel in the best area of La Paz.

Friendly staff and excellent restaurant, both for the included breakfast and lunch/dinner - gourmet meals (including salad/desert bar) for $10-$15!

Close to the city centre attractions and next to a number of bars and clubs in Sopocachi.

We stayed in a family suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and a kitchen. It was perfect for two couples. The suite was a great retreat from the busy city environment of La Paz. It's in a good location and cabs are cheap to everywhere in the city. Great service and a nice restaurant on site for breakfast included. Through booking.com we got the suite for $175 per night. I can see why this is rated so high on Trip Advisor.
