“Not awful but dont know how it got rated #8 in bogota”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

First let me state that this hotel is not awful but there are much better choices in bogota. It IS in the old part of town which is nice BUT it is very noisy not only noisy from the street but from the hotel itself the walls are paper thin you can hear guests coming and going and their conversations can be clearly understood while you are in your room. They also start playing this funky new age type music in the lobby at about 8 o'clock. LOUD too. Do NOT accept room 205 whatever you do it is insanely loud from the street. If you do stay here bring earplugs i did that was the only reason it was tolerable. The wifi didnt work very well in my room. I had to go downstairs to get a good signal. The breakfast was fine but is the same thing every day. I stayed at a few other hotels in bogota that cost less money and were superior in every way except for the charming location. Also my flight got in extremely early and they charged me for half a day early check in when there were plenty of rooms available. Maybe that is the policy but it was so noisy that i couldnt sleep anyway. Personally i found that very uncool. Staff was nice no complaints in that department. Easy walk to gold museum botero museum etc.

Room Tip: Stay away from the street. Room 205 especially

This is a great hotel in a safe and good location. The customer service was excellent and very friendly; the room was very clean, spacious with a nice design. There is not boubt that I will stay in this hotel again in my next trip to Bogota.

You have two primary areas when staying in Bogota - La candelaria where this hotel is and uptown which is more high-end. I enjoyed this neighborhood and this hotel was perfect. Its has very warm staff, a nice rooftop, nice rooms and a great breakfast that is included. I would return.

Bogota can feel overwhelming on first arrival, but this hotel will soon set you at ease. A friendly welcome, information on the local area and a lovely sweet tea were all offered within moments of setting down our luggage. The rooms were spacious (if a little noisy), the breakfast excellent, wifi worked well, and they had a good safe storage room. You're right on the doorstep of all the main sights in the heart of Bogota. They have a security man on the front door for peace of mind, too. The hotel also kindly recommended a driver for us for an overnight trip to Villa de Leyva, all perfectly organised. Only disappointment was the hotel bar which was soulless.

Room Tip: The views get better the higher up you go (and easier access to the great roof terrace!)

Nice hotel, comfortable rooms. Staff were lovely, very helpful and the drivers they use were also fantastic. We used them for our airport transfers as well as a private day tour to the salt cathedral. Well priced and good location. Breakfast was nice each day, fresh fruit was good and they have a variety of coffee blends as well as teas including coca tea. We stayed twice during our trip and would stay again. If you're in Bogota over Christmas get out and see the Christmas lights, it was amazing!
FYI there are a few flights of stairs so not ideal for those who are not mobile.

This is an old house turned into a hotel but the change has been done very nicely and gives a very homey feel to the interior. There is low key entrance and then the staircase which is covered with flora. Rooms are around this central stairs on different levels. Staff are wonderful and although I arrived at 4 in the morning, the front desk person accompanied me to my room and gave me a full review of the hotel in details. Breakfast in the lobby is very nice and consists of bread, butter, jams, fruits, eggs,… and juices that are not recognizable for me but very very tasty! (I did recognize papaya juice!) There is live guitar play with breakfast which is relaxing for eaters but might wake you up in your room sooner than what you intended.
The owner of the place is a very fine Italian gentleman who is also an expert in emeralds and if you are in market for that, can help you out significantly.
The location is central in old town Bogota but you should walk to get to places of interest (10-20 minutes) and some of that is through alleys that might not be the safest in the world at 2 in the morning.
Overall, definitely good value for the money.

Room Tip: Get a room far from the central stair case preferably in the upper floors.

Hotel Casa Deco is a good mid-range hotel in the old, historic district of Bogotà. The highlight of the hotel is its staff. They are internationally minded and gave great advice for first-time visitors. Coffee and tea are available all day in the lobby as is a selection of intelligent magazines and several cards and pamphlets pointing to some alternative tourism options. Breakfast is good and served in a lovely art deco room, in keeping with the hotel's exterior. There is a lovely terrace on the roof from which to take in Bogotà at a distance after a long day of walking. Rooms are basic, and the bathrooms need sprucing up but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great museums like the Museo de Oro and the Museo Botero are within walking distance, as is the splendid Plaza Bolivar. From there walk to Calle 11 to taste Bogotà's best aijaco. The area up the street from the hotel is home to a very bohemian area, some may prefer to avoid it. Overall we were able to walk everywhere . The staff will let you know what's safe and give you a handy map to keep you oriented..

Room Tip: If possible choose a room higher up to avoid street noise. Lobby noise is unavoidable but it was min...
