Make sure you look at the newer reviews for this place... as many of the reviewers noted, this is under new ownership by a Canadian woman named Sophie. Sophie was great, energetic and very helpful - and very particular about the cleanliness of the place.

The shared rooms near the street may get a little loud since it is a busy street out front, but our private ensuite on the second floor was the quietest place we stayed at in Colombia. Also, there are posted quiet hours (11 PM on Weekdays and Midnight on Weekends) which were religiously followed during our 3 nights there.

Beds were decent, pillows a little lacking, but for the price - no complaints!

Overall, fantastic hostel in perfect location for exploring the sights of Bogota.

Room Tip: Stay on the second floor or back if street noise bothers you.

I stayed there last month. The price is reasonable and the atmosphere is very nice. They have strong wifi and free breakfast is included. And the free coffee tastes sooo good!! If you stay in Bogota I strongly recomend this place.

I was in April in this hostel and I liked it because:

1. very cheap.
2. The best locaton in Bogota, close to Bolivar plaza and to the museums and even you can walk 15 minutes to the monserrate.
3. Ecxellent staff, always happy to help.
4. Very clean.
5. Not noisy.
6. A supermaket is less then 5 minutes from it.

I took the Budget Single room for myself. It was actually very small and without a window, but for this cheap price it was OK and I got use to it. The breakfast is continental (coffee, tea, bread, butter, cornflakes, milk) , but you can add things from the supermarket nearby. The hostel as is look old, but very clean and organized.

Room Tip: Budget Single room is very cheap, but very small (you cannot walk in the room), and without a window...

Looking for a place to stay in Bogota? Look no further!

Sophie is the best hostel owner we met! So helpful, takes care of everything you need!

The place is very tidy (cleaned every day), large and accessoriesed kitchen and great atmosphere. You get all that in
really good prices

As mentioned before me, the rooms upstairs are more quietly, but the dorms downstairs are great as well, as there is no loud music during the night.

Had a great time there! It's better to book in advance

Martinik is the hostel to stay at in bogota. The location is prime and also safe. It's not a party hostel but I still had a lot of fun here getting to know the other guests and hanging out. Huge shout out to the awesome staff... Especially Sofie the owner. They are more than willing to answer any question and welcome you into their home.

I have stayed at this hostal a number of times over the years and it is looking a little tired, but the staff are exceptional and the hostal offers great value. I accidentally left my laptop charger at the hostel when checking out but after contacting staff the next day they located it and returned it to me. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in martinik for 2 nights, 1 night in the dorms and 1 night in a double room. Both nights were great, the hostel is very clean, quiet and fun. The kitchen is pretty big and the internet is damn fast! Locationwise is also great since you are in the heart of the historic center! Sophie (the owner) is a great person, thanks a lot for everything.
