“Disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

As a fan of Gabriel Garcia Marquez I was looking forward to my visit to this centre. How disappointing, it is more a tribute to Salmona then to Marquez. I haven't visited the library but it is supposed to be great, the bookshop is extensive, a coffee shop, a restaurant.
A mall? I would have expected a permanent exhibit/activities dedicated to Marquez.
Take out the name "Centro Cultural Gabriel Garcia Marquez" and what is left of Marquez in this centre? Nothing.

“Excellent bookstore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

Be sure to visit the bookstore, which must be one if the best in Bogotá. There is also a large space downstairs for rotating exhibitions. However, i missed more of permanent activities dedicated to Márquez himself.

“Gabriel Garcia Marquez Cultural Center in Candelaria, Bogota”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

This center is a great place to stop and relax after a morning of site seeing in Candelaria. There is a Juan Valdez coffee shop for refreshments, a very nice book store with a great selection, and an El Chorral Restaurant & Bar if you’re looking for a cocktail or larger meal. There are multiple levels to this complex; be sure to walk around and explore. You will be rewarded with a lovely garden area on the top level, where you can take a seat and look out at the mountains or finish your Marquez book with a cup of Juan Valdez in hand!

“Bookshops in Bogota are amazing and this is one of the best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

One of the best things in Bogota are bookshops and this one is the best. It has an amazing selection and the space is beautiful. It's a building designed by Rogelio Salmona a very famous Colombian architect. However there are other wonderful independent bookshops in Bogota: Prologo and La Madriguera del Conejo close to El Centro Andino are my favorites. Libreria Lerner is also a great option.
