“Small but very good”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Small but great museum. The exhibits on display when I visited were varied but all in what I would call a mid-20th century style.

The entry fee was a pittance.

The building is set back considerably from the street. Look for the sidewalk sign.

“No permanent collection”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

I was looking forward to see the permanent collection of Colombian artists, but it had probably been re oved temporarily to make way for an exhibition of one artist. That in itself was very interesting and contained his short writings. However, the museum in general offered less than it claimed.

“Recommended Despite its Flaws”
Reviewed 24 January 2014

Recommended for art lovers interested in what's happening in Colombia. Their permanent collection is not "world class", although you're likely to find at least some pieces of quality that speak to you. The special exhibits can be interesting. The Salmona designed building is not his best work. It's functional but has no elevator for visitors and lots of stairs, which is extremely unwelcoming for older adults or the disabled. I found the neighboring art deco National Library more interesting architecturally.

“Solid museum experience”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

If you're tired of seeing the same ole religious art, churches, and have already visited the Botero Museum, head over to the modern art museum. It is modestly sized, with 3-4 floors, so it's easy to see everything within an hour or less. On my visit (in January 2014), the exhibitions featured photography, some abstract painting, prints, and sculpture, and some great representational art (figurative drawings and prints). Admission was 4,000 COP. Entrance may be tough to miss (especially on a Sunday, when the flea market takes place).
