“a home away from home!”
Reviewed 28 April 2010

For my birthday I spend a weekend at Royal Torarica and the staff was incredible. It was a last minute decision to stay at Royal and one I won't regret. Although they didn't have my reservation inadvance they brought a bottle of wine and balloons to my room and sang for me. When departing I also received a late birthday cake. It was awsome!!!

It was more a relaxation weekend with a good friend of mine and we both felt at home. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The service is great. The hotel is elegant and quiet. As guest of Royal you can also make use of the facilities of the sister Torarica that is only a few minutes away. So you can take a walk through garden and reach the hotel.

The room was great. It was comfortable and clean. We had the river view so you can see the river and the swimming pool. The breakfast was great it is from 6 am till 11 am. We had a lot of options and on request they bake pancakes. We also enjoyed lunch and dinner. I liked the "chinese tayer" soup and chicken breast with shrimp mousse served with a curry sauce.Hmmm.

I recommed this hotel with joy. I have stayed at other hotels and Royal is the best till now. I really enjoyed the service.
For tourist is also a good location. You also have free wireless internet acces.

This Hotel is on a great location. Next to the Torarica Hotel with all facilities in hand. If you look for a fun place with charm go to Torarica. If you want to walk two minutes and stay in a nice room go to Royal Torarica. Positive: Nice Room, Ipod clock radio, clean Hotel, good breakfast. Downside: Smelly hallway, water tempeature in bathroom sometimes cold. Windows can't be opened.

Stayed 5 nights on my first visit to Suriname . This quite new hotel is next to its sister hotel Torarica . That one has more ambience , but the Royal has more class . Good , friendly service . Rooms are spacious ,however the architect has made a few major mistakes . The main cabinet will not stay open , the drawers are hard to get out .
Through the garden you can walk directly to the Torarica , three minutes walk .For the business traveller I would definitly recommend the Royal Torarica ,

I was at Royal Torarica for 40 days and I can say this is the best hotel for staying in Paramaribo. It is located outside of the downtown, but in a walking distance, so it is very quiet and in safe city location. It is close Torarica Cansino and Hotel and you can use all the services provided by them (tennis courts, fitness, swiming pool etc.). A busy bar (mostly holland people) is located just 10 meters from the entrance of the hotel, and it is fine if you want to drink something with a little of life since Royal Torarica bar use to be deserted (but it's fine if you want to have some peace).

The staff were very kind and polite, althought I had some problems with some services like taxi and spring water. However, internet is free for all rooms and wifi coverage is pretty good and you can see Cisco access points every 10 meters (Royal Torarica webpage says internet connection is only for executive room, but in fact is for everyone). You can find a fridge in your room, a flat tv and alarm clock with an iPod connection to listen your own music.Swimming pool is great and very quiet. Althought it is a very good hotel, it is not a 5-star european Hotel.

Breakfast is good. There are diversity of food and you can order some stuff like omellets and waffers. Also the open time is long, from 6 am to 11pm, so you don't have to wake up early on weekends.

Diner was fine but it doesn't is not worth what it costs (average diner is about 50$ with no alcoholic drinks). I recommend the Cesar's Sald with shrimps, the pumpkin soup, the Tenderloin steak with port sauce and the ribs rack.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in August of this year. To be clear this is the Royal Torarica which is a newer hotel and is different from the Torarica.
The Royal Torarica is lovely, the exterior is beautiful and there are extensive grounds. The pool is nice and is behind the hotel and has a deck and poolside service. The restaurant is also very good.
The rooms were clean and air conditioned and the decor was very nice. The bed was comfortable, ceilings were high and floors were tiled. The bathroom was stylish and had two shower heads (one is a rain head) however the water didn't get hot and was lukewarm at best.
It is located right next to the old Torarica so is walking distance to the waterkent, palmerie and Unesco sections of town. Across the street there are lots of restaurants and despite that it was a lively area the hotel as very quiet.
The service was also great as there were some loud guests one night and the staff immediately came to speak to them.
The downside is that it's quite a bit more expensive than the other hotels in town.
The only hotel that could compare may be the new Marriot.
