“Great Place to Start and End the Day in Paramaribo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Waterkant for me is the starting point of tourism in Paramaribo. The place is alive 24 hours a day with loads of food, drinks, music and people. During our stay we met loads of people who were on the same flight to Suriname there and we also had our first Surinamese food there too. When you are on low budget holiday to Paramaribo, the Waterkant is the place to grab a meal and a drink anytime of the day.

“Fun but smelly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

The place is open most of the day, lots of little food and drink stands along the river. Places close to a small smell like urine and at night you have to be careful not to get mugged and lots of homeless people around.

“Good way to pass an afternoon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

There's a few things to do in that little few blocks of the city, and we ended up passing a couple afternoons there. It was nice enough.

“empty buildings, problem blocks”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

There're some empty boarded up buildings on Waterkant across the river front. The buildings were abandoned with homeless people sleeping in the front poach. At night and weekend loud music in cars passing by and locals hanging out at the riverside. The river view is lovely.

“Water Side View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013

Didn't get a chance to use any of the water taxis (boats) but the waterkant is a popular hangout spot for both the locals and tourists alike. Lots of local cultural dishes are available for sale and a nice atmosphere of music is always being played
