Two night stay for work purposes near the airport. Very well appointed, plenty of space in the room and bathroom. Almost everything has been thought of. Good quality food, very friendly service, beautiful views from the Vue bar and restaurant. The gym facilities are excellent. If heading back to Port Mores by I would definitely stay
at the Airways.

This hotel should be given 7 stars. The service, staff and management are exceptional. I have been to 118 countries and frequent mandarin orientals, four seasons, aman resorts and soho house hotels; none of them come close to the standard set at the airways hotel. The room and spa were also amazing. I would go out of my way to go to png just to stay at the airways. Sushill and Mel Gordon are probably the best in the hospitality industry. Or more accurately true five (5) Star Service @ a reasonable rate - I travel for business a great deal and city for city most 5 star hotels are, when you take into consideration the Lounges and Facilitates here more expensive then Airways with room appointments of really a 4/4.5 standard. Also little things like all communications being responded to promptly and efficiently always help...do little things mean a lot? No Little things mean everything!

I had the privilege to stay for several days at the Airways Hotel in Port Moresby while on a business trip to Papua New Guinea. The hotel is very comfortable, the staff extremely helpful and the food of a very high quality.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Port Moresby.
Sincerely,
Captain John Holmes

Expensive hotel (but nothing in Port Moresby is cheap anyway).

Everything in the room is just grand. Huge room, huge bed, great views and very friendly staff.

It's not a budget hotel if you wanna travel cheap. But if you have the money and want luxury, this might be the place.

Food is good, but I also like the "cocktail hour" where you get served free champagne and cocktail.

The view from the poolside is just amazing...if you like seeing aeroplanes.

The only thing we did not understand was the bath-tub had no plugs. And when we requested for it, none of the plugs the hotel staff brought fitted the tub. And the hotel staff even seem surprised that we requested the plugs. Makes us wonder if they are not used to guests filling up the tubs.

Having said that everything else is great. I give you 4.5/5.

Hello peatuhacs

Thank you for your comments!
I am pleased to hear that you understand the rates in POM.
Thank you for pointing out the bath tub plugs. Our HK has checked all the tubs in Dakota wing (only the suites have bath tubs) and all have bath tub plugs now. We apologise if you didnt get to use the bath tub.

Good to hear that the happy hours in the louges are going well along with Champagne, cocktails and small eats with free Internet browsing. Even our Fountain Lounge has free internet browsing.

We are hoping that we will receive 5/5 next time instaed to 4.9!!!

Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Best Regards

This hotel is your best bet for a business stay in Port Moresby: it is very close to the airport, it is safe, the food and service are great, I love the artwork and hanging plane too. The view over the airport airstrip and onto the highlands from the restaurant is amazing, especially at breakfast time when the steam is rising from the highlands.
My room was spacious and well appointed, I liked the Cabtree and Evelyn toiletries.
The only negatives for me were that the pillows are a too hard and the A/V a bit noisy at night.
In all a great stay. Loved the staff there.

Hello barneybanana

Thank you choosing Airways Hotel for your stay and your comments.

Our Chef takes personal responsibility to ensure that the breakfast is of high quality and there is enough choice for our guests. Juices smoothies, fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, Cold cuts and smoked Slamon, eggs, bacon, suasages, hash browns, tomaotes, fresh mushrooms, baked beans and couple of daily changing asian dishes plus an omelette staion to make your favourite one.
I am sorry to hear that the pillows were hard for you. As you may have noticed that there are 4 pillows in each room, should this be not comfortable for you then we also have a pillow menu in our Dakota wing to offer a right pillow for you. Next time please allow us to change your pillow to a much softer one. Please let us know on your arrival.
Thank you again for your kind words and we hope to see you back at the Airways for your next visit to POM.

Very comfortable hotel with brilliant, spacious rooms, plus excellent bathrooms and air-con.

The open-air restaurant above the fun, suspended Dakota offers great views into the PNG interior. Didn't try it in the evening, but imagine it's one of the nicer places in Port Moresby for dinner. Nice looking pool adjacent. It does a great breakfast, including, as you'd expect, tropical offerings, including whole coconuts with straws (these were exotic and fun but ultimately disappointing in this reviewer's view - they tasted like watery, luke-warm lemonade). Nice, friendly service. Charming as this open restaurant is, you start to feel the tropical humidity weighing in uncomfortably from about 7am. Return to the air-con is a relief.

A reservation is that the lobby area could do with a decent and comfortable sitting area. The only options currently are a few 1930s-themed and inevitably uncomfortable chrome benches. Fun, but they pall quickly after a few minutes.

Hello higvin

Thank you for choosing to stay at Airways Hotel and for your wonderful comments!

Our Bacchus and Dakota rooms are the most spacious. Indeed the view from Vue restaurant are spectacular. Some mornings the mist shrouds the Owen Stanley Ranges, a beautiful sight. Just like a story book.
As per your comments we now have the fresh coconuts on ice so they are chilled to the last moment. Thank you.
The lobby seating matches the whole theme of DC4. The reception desk top and the seating is acually made from the same plane's wing that is hung near Vue restaurant. I am sorry to hear that the benches were bit uncomfortable for you.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to seeing you again.
