“You call that an adventure?”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

The trip out there was more of an adventure than the park itself. Nothing seemed to be working the time I was there. Some nice bird and native animal zoo like areas. Not worth the trip from POM just for this park, BUT

Suggest (if you're of Australian heritage especially) drop by the Bomana War Cemetery which is 5 mins drive away and pay your respects. The cemetery is immaculately groomed and it'll bring tears to your eyes to see the age (17) of many of those buried there (3778).

“A bit out of the way, and nothing too exciting”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

My colleague took me here on my way to the airport--even though it was about 30 minutes past the airport. The grounds are nice and the gardens are pretty. You can see some tree kangaroos hanging around for free, but for the orchids and birds you have to walk off to the right from the entrance. There is supposedly an entrance fee, but when we went there was no one around except for a maintenance person. It was kind of a strange place in terms of location and layout, but it was decent enough to get a glimpse of some of PNG's wildlife is an unnatural setting.

Its ok but most animals are not from PNG I think the park needs to have more of our endangered animals, but otherwise wouldn't mind a visit again

“Gardens are better cared for than the animals.”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

i found this experience to be very upsetting indeed. Sheep who needed shearing, over-crowded goat & sheep enclosure with no hay or browse to be seen, dead guinea pigs in the petting zoo, tree kangaroos in hot enclosures with only bare rain trees for shade (rainforest animals who need much better shelter), over crowding in the bird aviaries, no behaviour enrichment toys for the parrots, a sick pelican, starving wallabies, rotting fruit in the heat in enclosures- the list goes on. Gardens are beautiful but animals suffering. Stay away if you are compassionate towards animals!! Highlight was the array of orchids but couldnt stop thinking of the poor animals after I left.

“Beautiful location”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

We went on a weekday so several parts of the park were not running, but it is a beautiful environment with 2 water slides, petting zoo (with sheep and goats), children's playground, Ferris wheel, boats and fishing rods to hire - all set in beautiful well-kept grounds with animal statues and attractive trees and flowers. We came to visit the wildlife sanctuary and orchid gardens on the same site - they are truly astonishing! This must be one of Moresby's hidden treasures that deserves to be more widely known about.
