Dining in Tarawa can be a pretty basic affair. Fish and rice, usually cooked in some kind of quasi-Chinese style is the norm. Availability of ingredients is a problem, leading to many menu items being unavailable. Restaurant surrounds can be a little shabby and sometimes could stand a little more cleaning.
Not so at the Japanese Curry House! I ate here in September 2009 and I hope the place has maintained its extraordinarily high standards. What a treasure this place is. Remove your shoes at the door to help keep that spotlessly clean floor...spotless! Order from the menu with some confidence that most, if not all, selections are available. And the meals were served with an alacrity as unexpected as it was welcome. Delicious, well prepared and presented food was offered. Next time in Tarawa, I'll be there like a shot!
