Great sea views from the room.
Fully equipped kitchen in the room, but if you have no vehicle it is a long way to find food.
Hotel has its own small selection of food for purchase but it can become repetitive.
Bus to la ville passes by the door, but the hotel is still isolated.
Comfy room with a bath in the bathroom.
Wonderful desk staff, free wi-fi in the lobby.

Le Stanleys is advertised as a 3 star hotel.
In some respects, it deserves at least four stars: location at sea side with private beach, jetty and swimming pool, wonderful sea views, spacious and well equipped apartments with full kitchen and ample furnished terrace overlooking the bay and islands, very friendly and professional staff, free wifi at lounge next to reception, a small shop offering food and wine and a convenient private car park,
In other respects, it is closer to a 3 star hotel: distance from cbd (12' by bus (from 6am to 6pm only) and 8' by car), quietness or noise depending on discretion of your neighbours, no restaurant or supermarket in walking distance in this upmarket suburb of Ouemo.
We would recommend hiring a car as restaurants and places of interest are rather spread out in Nouméa.
Considering the overall hotel offer in Nouméa, it is a very good option if you have a car and look for a good and reasonably priced apartment. W'll go back at "Le Stanley" next time we visit New Caledonia!

We stayed at Le Stanley for one night on 26 December 2012 when we transited at Noumea between our islands hopping of Ile Des Pins and Mare. I must have booked this hotel on booking.com in a hurry and didn’t take enough time to review the hotel and photos of the room. We paid 92 Euros per night for the room and perhaps was expecting too much as our hotel before Le Stanley was Le Meridien and had a bit of a spoilt-brats-shock when we arrived at the hotel late at night to find that it’s more akin to a motel than a hotel.

The door to the room is so flimsy that it felt that anyone could break into the room.

They have a small snack store opened 24 hours to the delight of my partner who could buy reasonably priced snacks at midnight.

The bed itself is very lumpy and my partner had back pain after one night sleep there. There is also insufficient lighting in the room especially because we arrived late and everything was dark. This hotel has a potential to be a great hotel with a bit of a revamp.

When we woke up in the morning, we were amazed by the sea view! It’s like a million dollar view from a crappy hotel.

I probably won’t stay at this hotel again and it is definitely a motel standard rather than a hotel standard. All throughout the night, the crickets were so loud outside the room that I couldn’t get a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor

Le Stanley hotel , noumea
We stayed for seven nights at le Stanley hotel. It was advertised as 3 star accommodation.
The room we had was on the second floor with wonderful sea views, and access to the swimming pool and jetty being next floor down.
The hotel is well equipped with air conditioning, one double and one single, full size fridge freezer, twin ceramic hobs, cordless jug, cutlery etc. flat screen tv, however only CNN was the only English speaking channel.

The ablutions was a shower over bath,
All floors are ceramic tiles.
Free Wifi available in the lobby
Only two power points in the room, ( one for the jug, one for the pedistal lamp)
Lift to all levels and suitable for people with disabilities.

To use the laundry was expensive as we found out on checkout time costing  nz $13 for one load of washing

LeStanley is out of town, but well serviced by urban coach services, or an easy drive front the city center.

Le Stanley operate a small shop offering food and wine
Good car parking

Room Tip: No wifi in rooms. only two power points in the room. Good swimming off the jetty or in the deep swim...

Having holidayed in most of the Pacific Ocean nations, New Caledonia was a very enjoyable and 'nouvelle' experience. It had changed very much since our previous visit (25 years ago). Although more 'touristy' it has maintained its unique mix of French culture and tropical setting. On this trip we stayed at the Hotel Le Stanley. Located on a peninsula in the upmarket suburb of Ouemo it offers magnificent panoramic views, absolute water frontage (with coral and jetty), peace and quiet and yet is only 10 minutes by car from the CBD. Our suite was spacious and well appointed with modern kitchen and bathroom, cable TV (although mostly French!) and a large balcony which made the most of those views. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and professional and went out of their way to be helpful. This was very much appreciated as our French is rather rudimentary. We would recommend your hiring a car, which is not expensive, as restaurants and places of interest are rather spread out. There is plenty of parking at the hotel. We are going back next winter!

As veteran travellers, through Trip Advisor research we were forewarned that this hotel was not in a prime tourist area. It is literally at the end of a regular city bus line but taxis are cheap (AUD10 to downtown Noumea - off peak). The upside is that it is on the end of a small peninsula which gives it a beautiful view of the surrounding coastline and sunsets – particularly from the jetty and swimming pool.
This is not a 5 star hotel but from my pictures you can see that it is quite large with beautiful surroundings . The Karuia city bus stop is adjacent to the hotel and leaves at 18 minute intervals on weekdays (35 mins on weekend). Tickets can be conveniently purchased from the ticket machine in the foyer (CFP200 each (AUD2.00) or from the driver. Noumea is a small city and the way the ticket system works is that you need a new ticket every time you get on the bus – regardless of distance or time frame. It runs from 6.00 am until sunset. The buses are modern, clean and air-conditioned – a pleasant surprise!, but don’t expect them to run too closely to the timetable (we liked them).
Our prerequisites for accommodation are clean room, warm shower and good bed and Hotel Stanley did well in all categories. The rooms have been partially refurbished with a coat of paint, but importantly, the aircon (inverter), stove, refrigerator and microwave all worked well. The furniture is very basic, but functional and the floors were clean and your feet didn’t get filthy when walking around in bare feet. The view from room 209 was over the swimming pool and not noisy. We did not encounter noisy rooms nearby (as in other TA comments).
The front desk is 24 hour but basic – you need to do your own research on tours and attractions - visit the Office of Tourisme in Coconut Square in downtown Noumea. As usual the hotel exchange rates are a rip –off, so change your cash downtown – the “Exchange” machines give an excellent rate (look like ATM’s and simple to use).
Food is an issue if you are not organized. The hotel has a breakfast restaurant which we scored at 4.5/10, but no lunch or evening service, nor are there any restaurants nearby – you need to take a taxi, because the buses stop at sunset. The hotel has a small food and wine shop – 10/10 for an excellent range of reasonably priced French wines (don’t bother about bring duty free wine with you) and a selection of fresh baguettes, chilled and frozen food (to be microwaved). The front desk will also order meals to be delivered. But that’s it and it comes at the price for convenience. We bought our provisions at a large Supermarche and carried them back on the bus and dined out (via taxi) on other nights.
Wi-fi is not available in rooms – only the lobby (free).
.

Room Tip: Take a bottle of wine down the jetty, dangle your feet over the edge, watch the sunset and lay back...

Service was very good - amicable staff ready to help, inform or assist
We had a one bedroom apartment/suite and it was very spacious, clean, aired with a long balcony - good amenities (oven, fridge etc...) that allowed us to cook and shop for fruit and french cheese etc...
The location seems a bit far, but in fact if you have a car it's only 5 minutes away from the 2 main beaches (anse vata & baie des citrons) and restaurants. So it's nicely isolated from the city's hustle and bustle but handy too. If you don't have your own car, the bus stop right in front of the hotel. Parking is ample.
Our 3 year old really loved the swimming pool and the jetty (coral and fish). We enjoyed the trasnquility, the space, teh cooking facility, the breakfast also - simple but nice french taste - croissants, etc...Not much we didn't like!
