“Your own private beach (almost)”

lovely place, kept by a very nice family. great for children. good food. The bungalows and nice, clean and comfy. A 50M stroll takes you down to your own almost secluded beach. Water is quite shallow, so great for small kids, but you have to walk quite far for decent swim at low tide. About 40 min drive from the airport and capital. You will need to hire a car (they will help you reserve).

A little slice of Heaven. We traveled a long way to find it. The beach was basicly our own, private beach. We kayaked, swam, and snorkeled during the high tides. The low tides we walked all the way out. The tides are extreme there. Very different. Walked on the beach looking for shells. It's basicly the only beach on the big island, and vey beautiful. We watched the spectacular sunrises every morning. Relaxed in the hammocks.
Arlene and Julie made wonderful meals served in cupped leaves with fresh fish caught daily. By Arlene's husband or the boys that worked there. We enjoyed our conversations at mealtimes with both Julie and Arlene. We miss them already.
Arlene set us up with great tour groups, and they made us feel special. Wonderful sites to see on the islands. So rich with history and nature.
We recommend renting a car. It's not expensive . And the views during the 45 minute drives are great. We recommend this place highly.

Room Tip: With four bungalows, they are all good.

Beautiful place on Palau's only beach, which you might have all to yourself if you're lucky. Nice and comfortable bungalows. Delicious food made by Arlene og Julie. Try fish and crab - yummi!
Both Julie and Arlene go all the way for you, being very nice and hospitable. They make the stay that much nicer, booking trips for you and just making sure you are doing well. The beach was beautiful. But there is an enormous big difference on the low and high tide. With high tide there is almost no beach left, while when it is low you have to walk far to be able to swim. Low tide was thus perfect for our 3 year old, while the 9 year olds loved exploring the reef in search of fun things. Would love to come back to this quiet paradise

It was a great stay! We had the beach to ourselves and generally the place was very peaceful with just about 4 or 5 bungalows. We had one with a barbecue so we would make our food ourselves. Arlene would provide us with fresh fish or crab from the fishermen and groceries for breakfast.

Looking for a quiet, private, relaxing and safe guesthouse I highly recommend staying here.My 19yr old daughter enjoyed kayaking alone. We went swimming, walking along the beach with the locals engaging in the odd conversation. This place is close to the Japanese lighthouse and stone monoliths.
Julie is very hospitable ensuring all guests are well looked after.
Arlene the owner prepares delicious fresh cuisine nicely presented in leaves on a platter in the summerhouse. We had fresh fish which Mckinley her husband had caught from the ocean, crab& vegetable fritters, homemade banana bread, salad and rice shaped in lovehearts& papaya.Arlene takes alot of pride in her cooking. She also will make suggestions of how to utilise your time in Palau.
Well done guys!

Staying at M&A Riverside was like being welcomed into the home of a good friend. The location is delightful, on the beach, away from town and surrounded by nothing but pristine ocean and palm trees. The bungalow was a lovely combination of comfortable, well appointed and relaxed. The staff are so friendly and hospitable it's like being looked after by close friends. The food is divine. Anything Arlene and her crew can do for you they will do. Seriously nothing was too much trouble. I was so sad to leave here and can't wait to visit again. Can't rate it highly enough.

Our week with Arlene and Mckinely was nothing short of perfect.

Here are some points to consider when staying here:

* It's a 45-55 min drive to the resort from the airport (if you drive the actual speed limit, it's an hour's drive), so you must rent a car if you decide to drive into Koror or elsewhere. Rentals are cheap ($30/day).

* Food created (with love) by Arlene and her small team and is just the right amount of portion, and served on fantastic, exquisite little leaves (every dish has its own leaf for a plate!!). Flavors are really nice, and Arlene can spice it up with her special hot sauce on request (but don't ask for the secret recipe, just enjoy the flavour).

* Try a fishing trip with McKinely. You will catch fish and you will have a beautiful fish dinner afterwards. The trip we had was fun, even if we lost a couple of whoppers!

* The private beach, which is well maintained, is your personal slice of heaven. Water visibility is awesome, and there's a decent amount of coral and fish to make snorkelling quite good.

* The rooms a step above basic, and more than what is needed to keep you comfortable during your stay.

* The resort area is beautiful, with vegetation growing everywhere, making it feel very secluded. The walk out to the beach gives you a wonderful, free feeling, and we went out there every chance we got.

* Service is top notch, and Arlene will "make it happen" if you have a request. She's a super hard worker, and so is her "crew". She's a great lady and we hope to see her and the family soon again.

* Get lots of food in Koror, and do your own cooking on the BBQ (hut 1 & 2) if you are adventurous; we were, and found it to be wonderful!

* The resort is quiet and peaceful.

* They just got Wifi, but it's not fast if you are accustomed to broadband (we live in Hong Kong), so only try to use it if you HAVE to.

We can't wait for our next stay here.

Room Tip: Hut #1 and #2 have BBQs
