I have never felt so obliged to write a review in this detail, and the reason being that a few short sentences will not cut it!
I travelled to this magical destination with my wife and 12 year old daughter. The communication with the resorts manager, Pascalle was excellent with any question and requests responded to very quickly and efficiently. I must commend Pascalle and the management team as it was clear very early in the booking process that their commitment to their guests started well before arrival.
We were so warmly greeted with amazing smiles at the airport by Robert (who went above and beyond during our stay) and Ben. Ben then transferred us to the resort however provided us with fantastic commentary as we toured through town and onward to the resort. I must say I did read some comments about the dirt section of road to the resort however found this to be the highlight as it travelled through about 7klm of what can be described as beautiful and picturesque tropical jungle. The greeting at the resort by reception was wonderful and I must thank Claire, Wendy, Pascalle and the team behind the scenes for their genuine care during our stay.
The Resort has to be seen and experienced to be really appreciated. When we arrived our first impression was WOW! The restaurant, the grounds, the luxurious villas, the lagoon and surf, the pool, the brilliant snorkelling, the organised local tours, especially church on Sunday and the visit to the local village and school, and all the other recreational facilities are all second to none. Being only 12 beachfront villas the feel around the resort is of complete privacy and relaxation, while at the same time being very personal as you really get to know all the staff very well.
The restaurant meals offered something for everyone and were first class. The staff in the restaurant couldn't do enough to please. I know I will miss a few names but we must thank Melanie, Yvonne, Rose, Sharon, Pauline, Andre & Jenni for your amazing service and more importantly your friendship during our stay. Other members of the team that made our stay so memorable include Mac who so warmly welcomed us to his village and home and Lilly who kept our villa pristine on a daily basis and not to forget all those amazing people behind the scenes, thank you!
The resort is undoubtedly first class, the secluded and picturesque location we consider to be hard to beat in the Pacific but the truly wonderful people both in the Resort and the surrounding village made our visit to Eratap one of the most personal and memorable holidays we have experienced. So much so that we have already made preliminary plans to return in 2015.
As I said, expectations well and truly exceeded. Thank you Eratap!

My Husband and I spend 7 nights at Eratap and could not have been happier. The resort this hidden away from everyone and is simply beautiful. The cabins are very roomy and comfortable. We were made feel very welcome by all of the staff, who would always greet you with a smile. We enjoyed many delicious meals while watching the sun set. We spent many hours snorkelling right out the front of our cabin and it was amazing. The grounds are very well kept and the pool was very clean. I would highly recommend Eratap beach resort to anyone looking for a relaxing peaceful getaway.

Everything that has been said below is true! What a fab place, friendliest service, great food with good daily specials, perfect mojitos! We stayed for for 7 nights - 2 nights in villa 9, a 1 bed with plunge pool, this villa has no beach front just sea wall but the plunge pool makes up for this. We then moved to honeymoon Villa 12 - the most private of all villas on the point again no beach but steps down to water and again private pool. This was the perfect Villa for us as a bit more separated . Advantage to both these villas is no one can walk past as the can all the others. And the others are closer together than I expected bit still separated by a fence and a few shrubs. The villas are perfectly set out with all amenities you need, bonus is the fridge is empty and can be used to stock with your own wine, beers etc. Prices for meals and drinks are standard Aust prices or a little less so is good. Meals are huge - we often shared a lunch as we ate breakfast late and couldn't fit in dinner otherwise. Staff are happy to do room service at no extra cost which is a lovely benefit. We booked the picnic lunch to Castaway island but cancelled it due to rain but still had the picnic In our villa - wow what a lunch! Fresh baguette, grilled chicken, salad with dressing to mix yourself, cheese, mayo, all in separate containers for you to assemble fresh yourself. Followed by fresh fruit salad, bottle of water. yum! The staff are amazing, very friendly and nothing is to much trouble! Will definitely stay here again!

This is one amazing resort that truly lives up to the highest of expectations. The exceptional staff have crept into our hearts. They welcome you with open arms and treat you like family without exception. Very hard to say goodbye.

As stated below the beds are amazingly comfy and the villas are set up very well with all of the luxuries you would expect for this price point (Wifi, aircon, room service at no extra charge, amazing toiletries, safe, novels, dvd, foxtel).

Apart from the paddle-boards, bikes, Kaiaks, snorkelling gear that can be used at your disposal there are two daily activities offered each day. These ranged from long walks, Eratap Village tour, local cooking and so on. The resort also has entertainment on Monday (fire show), Wednesday (traditional dancing) and Friday (kava and wine tasting) which are brilliant! The restaurant was great with a large selection of food options and two daily specials at lunch and dinner.

The one downside of this resort is that it is a bit out of town (only 15min drive) which is fine if you intend to stay in the resort mostly (very easy to do this as it offers many many activities) however if you intend to travel around a bit, taxis can get expensive when not in a group to share the fare. A driver does go into town daily from 10-12.30 so you can easily catch a lift and then bus from there.

We stayed at Eratap in April for 8 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing time. The villas are the perfect layout as we were travelling with a 12 and 15 year old. They are very spacious and very tastefully decorated. The beds were also really comfortable. It was nice to be able to hear the waves at night.
We loved the snorkelling and the kayaking but we especially enjoyed the day we were taken to a private island (Castaway) for a picnic lunch and some snorkelling.
The pool was beautiful and all the staff were very polite and friendly.
The food was also great. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and i would definitely go back again. It is very hard to get a booking during the school holiday period....i had to book 6 months in advance!.

Room Tip: We were very happy with Villa 6...middle of beach so a great spot.

I have felt compelled to write my second review!
Being winter in Australia we decided on another little break. This time we decided on Vanuatu. We spent 7 nights at Eratap and it was wonderful.
Vanuatu is quite a primitive country with unpaved roads, minimal street lighting, no designated tourist areas etc but none of that is needed and everything just seems to chug along at island speed. The locals are extremely friendly too and it seems little is hidden or maintained to impress the tourists. Out of your resort and into their life.
Eratap has 12 well maintained villas situated on a stunning beach. It is however about 30 mins drive to the town. But there is not much in town. For a short break this resort is outstanding. Lovely beach, lovely staff, lovely restaurant where the food is actually very good. They also have 2 different specials every lunch time and evening. They also provide some entertainment at about 6( along with happy hour) we went up twice that early for dinner to see local tribal dancing and a fire show. It was worth watching. Other nights we went up later at our choice. Dinner til about 10. Breakfast is served from 6am-11am.. So whenever suits you.
The snorkelling is excellent and the array of creatures that can be seen walking in the shallows also very impressive.. Starfish, crabs, sea slugs etc etc. A nice afternoon stroll that's for sure.
Villas are equipped with a supremely comfortable bed, HD TV, inside and outside showers, loungers on the deck or your own loungers 10 yards further just on the beach. You also have a fridge..WITHOUT ALL THE USUAL HOTEL JUNK IN IT! You can fill it with drinks, chocolate etc if you go into town and grab a few things. For a weeks relaxing break ( and if it just wanting to relax that you want) I would recommend this place to anyone. The sand is white, the sea is crystal clear, food is good and the staff are friendly.
I could go on and on but when they opened Eratap they CLEARLY thought about it and have done it well. Complimentary games, DVDs, snorkelling gear, kayaks and even motorised water sports too. They also run a daily shuttle to port Vila. You get 2 1/2 hours there.. That is enough.
We also went out across the island for dinner , it was a Saturday night after all, and they arranged for us to be taken there and back by a local taxi.
I would definitely return and next time for longer but also want to explore the island next time now that I have had a taste.
This is the kind of Island that is mostly unspoilt like Fiji or Jamaica. I hope it stays that way whilst it evolves. Being only 4 hour flight from Sydney .. It's like having paradise on your doorstep.
Thank you to all the staff.

My wife and I just spent 12 amazing days at Eratap. Our expectations were very high as a result of the excellent reviews and the resort exceeded all of them.
The staff are absolutely wonderful (without exception); always with ear to ear smiles and a willingness to make your stay very special and this is one of the great assets of the resort.
We were in Villa 10 with plunge pool and cannot recommend it highly enough although we didn't require the 2nd bedroom. However the additional space this provided was quite useful. It is some 200/250m to the restaurant, but it was great to be able to wander back to the villa after dinner through the beautiful gardens.
We visited the local church on Sunday and the village on the organised visit and wow, what a fantastic experience....this was a "special" highlight for us.
The restaurant is 1st class (yet casual) with great food and a fabulous selection on the menu and two specials each evening and the chef and staff always obliging with any special requests.
This really is a Paradise and we thoroughly loved our time there and are hoping to return again next year for a little longer.
