The Eratap beach resort near the village of the same name is about 30min by car from Port Villa. It is on an idilic private tropical peninsular with just a small number of individual cabins. We were met at the airport and driven to Eratap by resort staff. Don't fret about what some people have written about the road, we expected trouble but it was no big deal.

The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere relaxed. We organised SCUBA diving on two days, one at the resort and the other elsewhere. We also used the pool, the restaurant, massages, kayaks (do this!!), speed boats for picnics, the play ground, and several of the organised group activities.

I believe children are only welcome part of the year but when they are welcome they are made very welcome. Ours were almost two and almost four.

If you need somewhere to unwind, try Eratap.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by staying at Eratap Beach Resort on the island of Vanuatu. The resort, staff and service were all superb. I can't say enough positive things about the whole place. It is peaceful and yet lots to do if you want. Food and service is like being at a 4-5 star restaurant. The staff can't do enough for you.

I highly recommend it to everyone. The island is very interesting and is a postcard for what a South Pacific Island would look like.

I cannot believe how lucky we were to have found Eratap Beach Resort!!!! My husband & I have just returned from a 7 night stay to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anninversary. We stepped off the plane to the sounds of a Vanuatu band playing Island music and the huge smile of Robert, the mini-bus driver, who was waiting to take us to the Resort. Along the way Robert chatted and gave us tips and information and pointed out places of interest along the way. I had heard about the bumpy road and expected the worst but Robert knows the road like the back of his hand and seemed to miss nearly every pot hole along the way. The fact that the road leading up to the resort is bumpy shouldn't matter in the slightest, as the place you arrive at is well worth the trip. The Resort is absolutely beautiful in every way. Our Villa was very clean, well appointed and very comfortable with amazing views of the ocean. It was lovely to lay in bed and fall asleep to the sound of the rolling waves of the ocean.

The food at the restaurant was excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner and we found ourselves excited about what we were going to try next. We were never disappointed. The staff at the Restaurant were also amazing. Andre, Clifford, Jenny and Yvonne were always there to ensure you had everything you needed and were always friendly & polite.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the Friday night bon fire on the beach toasting mashmellows and the Wednesday night entertainment by a local island band.

Tony and Louisa, the owners, were also always on hand and were friendly and most helpful. Their dream of building a 5 star resort at Eratap has certainly been achieved. Pascal and Mary the reception staff were also lovely.

The Resort was quiet, relaxing and a perfect place to get away from our busy city life. We did go into Port Vila on the mini bus from the resort to do some shopping which was interesting. We also went kayaking on the lagoon, out for a picnic to deserted Castaway Island and had a relaxing massage in the Day Spa. The main and highlights of our stay were going on a Buggy ride through the villages and visiting Eratap Village with two locals, Paulo & Mac. It was amazing to see their village and how they live. Everyone we met in the village was smiling and cheerful and the children were just gorgeous. The rest of the time we swam in the stunning pool and relaxed on the lounges by the beach.

Eratap Beach Resort is the ultimate destination for complete relaxation & indulgence and I cannot wait to return.

Just back from 8 days in Vanuatu, the last 4 at Eratap. As there was limited availability in the 10 ocean front villa's, decided to hang the expense and stay in honeymoon villa # 11... best decision ever!!!

It was an amazing villa, right on the penisula with its own private beach, plunge pool and under cover day bed. One night we had dinner there (no extra cost), just the two of us in the most amazing location as the sun set.

The villa's had both outdoor and indoor shower options, I only used the indoor one once!

We took advantage of the free kayaks and headed over to Castaway Is. Awesome snorkelling. We also snorkelled straight out from our own private beach... saw heaps of Nemo's and the greatest vareity of starfish ever!

Food was awesome, fresh, tasty, great variety, no need to go anywhere else to eat. Service was brilliant from all the staff.

Only negative was I did get attacked by mozzies on the first night.... watch out for them sneaking into your villa.

In terms of tours, we stayed at other cheaper places earlier in our stay on Santo & Tanna Islands and enjoyed adventurous tours. While at Eratap we stayed put and enjoyed the place and its surrounds and came home so relaxed...

Eratap Beach Resort is an amazing place to stay. My husband and i returned from our honeymoon yesterday from our trip and i just had to get on here to let everyone know that it is the best place i have ever stayed.

It was relaxing, the staff will go out of their way to do anything for you. We had car hire problems and the manager Tony rang the car hire place and soughted out our issues. Staff are friendly and there is no "Island time" here in relation to service.

Food was exquisite. We regret not getting a meal plan for dinner. Included breakfast was awesome always fresh and hot.

Rooms were serviced beautifully everyday, no items were stolen from our room. The rooms thereselfs were modern well maintained but very traditional in style. The villa was literally 15 steps to the beach.

Truely an amazing experienced and well worth the money,=. Would go back in a heart beat.

Thanks Eratap :)

We have just returned from our eight night honeymoon at Eratap Beach resort. After having a bad start in Sydney with our flight etc we were so happy to be greeted at Port Villa Airport by Robert our bus driver. He handed us a icy cold bottle of water each and we started on our journey to Ertap. After reading many reports on Trip adviser about the bumpy road into the resort we were well prepared for the 7kms of bumps. Yes it was bumpy but the bus is air-conditioned and Robert was full on knowledge and answered all our questions. I actually think the bumpy road is a good thing as it may prevent other tourists calling into the restaurant and beach's.

After being greeted by Pascal and a cold drink we were escorted to our honeymoon Villa. We were given a run down on the resort and what services were available. We were advised of where to snorkel, swim, Kayak the local private islands etc.

Everyday the resort offers free activities which the local Villagers run. One day we did a guided walk to the black sand beach, another day we were taken into the local village, it was a great experience to see how the locals live and meet the kids.

There was a couple of days where we decided to do organised "professional" tours, Wendy and Mary at reception were fantastic at organising our tours and transfers into town. During our stay my husband and I did discuss how if we were to recommend a friend to come stay at Eratap that we would suggest staying a couple of nights in town during your stay as the transfers on a daily basis worked out at about $35 return. That way you could do all your tours while staying in town and take advantage of the free pick ups. On the last night of our trip we did stay in town as there was a delay in our flights and we were required to stay an extra night. After experiencing our one night in Port Villa and speaking to many other tourists on our tours, I would be more than happy to stay at Eratap and pay the $35 return transfer.

My husband is a chef at one of the best restaurants in Melbourne and he was genuinely impressed with the food at Eratap Resort. The staff were amazing and we had a lot of fun with Andre and Clifford. The price's were fair and one of the great features is every morning at breakfast you get a running total of the day before food and beverages, no nasty surprises at the end of your stay.

The free shuttle boat to the resorts small private island is highly recommended. We had a packed picnic lunch, swam in the bluest water and laid on the whitest sand. It was so amazing we did it again the next day.

The only criticism we have of Eratap would be the massages we received at the resorts spa were preformed by staff who in our opinion require better training. We found them to be very rough, it was very annoying how the spa phone kept ringing and listening to the ladies whispering to each other was quite frustrating.

I would highly recommend staying at Eratap and were looking forward to going back for our 5 year anniversary.

We decided to go overseas for our honeymoon and the lovely wife somehow found this place called Eratap Beach Resort. After a good read of some of the trip advisor reports we went ahead and booked our 8 day honeymoon there. On arrival we were greeted by Robert the shuttle bus driver, Robert treated us like family from the first sight, he was very talkative and answered our many questions on the way and questions I am sure he gets every airport pickup with great enthusiasm! Eratap is around 25 minutes from town and 7km down a bumpy track through villages. Once there you are at one of the best locations in Port Vila. How can we say this? Well we drove around the island and had a look at some of the other resorts.

Tony (owner with Louisa) and Wendy (receptionist) were at the steps to welcome us. After a brief rundown on the facilities, and complementary cocktails, we went to our villa where our cases had been delivered. As soon as we changed we were of to the lagoon for a paddle in one of the villa’s plastic kayaks to awe in the great visibility. After the sun went down we headed of to the restaurant. Now here lies the problem… We decided we would head into town some nights to sample the other restaurants, but the food was so damn good we did not want to miss the great specials and the local beef on offer! The wife is pretty much a vegetarian and she did not go hungry, maybe a bit more variety for these fussy eaters may be welcomed, but saying that she enjoyed every meal that she asked them to change. Andre, Clifford, Rehab and the rest of the restaurant staff were very friendly and we never had to wait long for meals.

The snorkeling outside our villa and in the lagoon was sensational, if you have ever been to see one of the setup aquariums, then that is what it was like, every day! .Wwe went on one of the many daily organized tours and even went for our own trek to find the Black Sands beach, much to say we only found it when a local who we met in the middle of the bush showed us the way. This is a fine example of the Vanuatu people; they would give you the shirt of their backs.

We brought our own mask and snorkel along as we wanted to make sure we had a good fit. The fins and booties (reef shoes) we borrowed. No TV (was satellite TV in pool area), no phone coverage (my own phone), no internet (only in the restaurant), wow! A great relaxing place to unwind.

We are glad we stayed out of town as it was quite and relaxing. We did have an issue with the aircon but Tony had that solved right away. This is the place to go to unwind, you get to sample the beauty of Vanuatu and experience the great people that live there, we did not find one person who would not smile and say hello. Tony has done a great job in creating this place, great location, great staff and great accommodation. We will be back.
