I cannot imagine a more welcoming location. Sala and his family and staff were very warm and friendly. I stayed for a week and feel like I have left with real friends on the other side of the world.
My list of favorite things about Tara Beach is long: snorkling, kayaking, being dazzled by the darkness of the sky and brightness of the stars. the sound of the waves just meters away. If you are looking for a sterile, generic island resort that could frankly be anywhere, don't stay here. But if you want to feel like you are in Vanuatu and want to support the local economy, this is your place! The bed was comfortable, the bungalows are spacious, the food was good (especially breakfast!) and the setting terrifically relaxing and gave me the feeling of really being away. As for the comment in an earlier post about the bathroom...I would say only that this is not a generic 5-star resort, but it has everything you need for a comfortable and beautiful Vanuatu experience, including warm water, a decent shower, and the toilet in my bungalow worked fine. Anytime something didn't work well, the good people at Tara Beach fixed it or made sure I was comfortable despite the slight inconvenience.
I do recommend water shoes, since this is a coral beach!More
