Thought we would revisit as new menu with some local dishes. Kakae stack good except served cold as was most of the food. Kumala cold and greasy. Poor service -After meal served waiter disappeared although he had promised to change the appalling music - 70's and 80's Western pop. Requested local string band music but not available. We were the only people in the restaurant but not surprised after being served an appalling meal and being forced to listen to such inappropriate music. Any complaint was responded to with a sulk and no apology or attempt to rectify. The customer is definitely not valued here.

We came to La Tentation with the staff team from our non-profit organisation for desserts and drinks. The waiter seated us at a nice outside table. We sat down and he brought menus, and then I told him that we were just going to be ordering desserts and drinks. He became annoyed and told us that we weren't allowed to sit at that table and we would have to move. A pretty strange request as it was after 8pm on a weeknight, and there were several similar outside tables available (in fact, there was only one other group of customers in the whole restaurant). Anyway, we moved to the table that we were asked to sit at, which was positioned half-in and half-out of the restaurant and wobbled as a result. It also had no overhead lighting, so we took a candle from one of the empty outside tables. The waiter came storming over and angrily snatched the candle back, saying that it was "for people ordering mains only!" As we hesitated over whether or not we would stay, the waiter snapped at us that we should leave. Hmmm... with such horrible service, it at least provided a good laughing point and we ended up having a great dessert and drinks at the Grand Hotel just up the road. Pity that La Tentation has missed out on a lot of future business from our organisation.

Everything was perfect. Four of us ordered four different meals. We ate in silence because it was so good. All of not wanting to share our food but needing each other to taste it so they could know how good it was.
If its a special occasion this is the place to go.
Not cheap but not outrageous prices and worth every cent.

Wow! If the spectacular bayside view isn't enough to make you want to pull up a chair and take the weight of while, whilst the cool ocean breeze blows away to heat and humidity, then the Tuna Tataki should swing it!
It was simply the best. Freshly off the hook tuna, expertly 'cooked' with a perfectly light and zesty dipping sauce, just a fleck of chilli burn across the tongue.
We came back three time to have it again and were impressed by the consistent delicious quality of this dish.
Many thanks, when we get back at christmas, please make sure its on the menu!!!

First, the location. It's in a near-new building, the Ocean Walk Complex, in the heart of the Port Vila CBD, but right on the waterfront with "drop-dead gorgeous" panoramic views of the entire Port Vila harbour. The restaurant boasts cathedral-style ceilings, both indoor and al fresco dining, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, marble or marble-like floors, very comfortable and relaxation-inducing chairs, and an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday-to-Saturday. As you'd expect, the food ranges from local to international, with a strong emphasis on freshness and more than a hint of French. They offer salads, pastas, fish, 'burgers, meat and chicken dishes, and that's just for starters! Their beer/wine/soft list is also extensive and, for Port Vila, not expensive. [For example, we had a Tusker beer for 350 Vatu and a Sprite (lemonade) for 250 Vatu, perfect for the oppressive humidity we experienced that day].
The service was outstanding: smiling, genuinely welcoming staff, anxious to please and to be of assistance. Tipping is NOT a way of life in Vanuatu so the empathy of the staff was even more genuine, and genuinely appreciated. If you go to this restaurant - and I highly recommend that you do (whether you're vacationing in Port Vila or merely visiting for the day from a cruise ship), you won't be disappointed, I promise you.
