Great snorkelling, saw incredible range of fish close to shore, though for the more adventurous if you want to venture a little further out, you will be blown away with the fish which are there, especially around the time that the glass bottom boat tour is operating which also is excellent.

Just as in Melissa H's review, we caught a local bus from Mangoes to Hideaway Island ferry for 300 vt each. Ferry is from Mele, which is Vanuatu's largest village - lots of activity here and there is a good food and drink venue (from reports we got later) adjacent to the jetty. Ferry crossing is free and takes just a few minutes. The island entry is 1250 vt each, snorkelling is very good with fish everywhere, and is free. We took our own gear but our friends hired their kit from the island shop. The glass bottom boat trip (30 mins for 1000 vt) was really enjoyable with tons of fish to see, especially when the bread was thrown into the water! Beachside kiosk was really good and the food and drinks were a reasonable price and good quality. Coffee was excellent. The resort accommodation looked quite good too and could be worth considering. Just as wherever we went, the people were very friendly and service was terrific. Smiles, smiles and more smiles.

We caught a bus to the ferry for 200 vatu each and spent a relaxing day snorkelling and chilling out at the beach. This would be great for families and pleanty of food and drink available for a reasonable price. I would recommend doing this over going to the over priced Mele waterfall.

This is an excellent, easy to get to spot for relaxing and snorkeling. As soon as you step into the water you are amongst the fish and coral. The water is crystal clear (even on a cloudy day) and the colours of the fish and coral are amazing. Once again the people here are always smiling and friendly which gives the whole place a carefree atmosphere. The food was excellent, the beer was icy cold and the view was wonderfully tropical. What more could you ask for? We organised and paid for the day through the travel agent in Australia which gave us pick up from our Hotel, entry to the Island , snorkel gear hire, a tour on the glass bottom boat (& fish feeding), a snorkel tour and lunch. An excellent stress free day.

It is a short ferry ride over to the island (very scenic on a glorious day!) and then you pay to access the island, 1000vt per person, this covers the ferry ride across as well. The snorkelling was amazing and we were able to hire the snorkelling equipment there,1000vt each, it was a short wait for this (enough time to have lunch) then we were good to go. The fish were not far off shore and were amazing, so spectacular, many schools of different types. The underwater post office was a bit of fun to find and we took lots of photos on our underwater camera, and we just enjoyed swimming with so many fish around us. The coral on the beach was a bit difficult to get across but with flippers on it was OK. Our lunch was very nice at the Beach Bar and the views there are just gorgeous, and you can just relax there too. It is just a lovely way to spend some time and I would love to go back there and do it again and I would enjoy it just as much.
