Breakas Beach Resort Vanuatu

The accommodation was fabulous, the views beautiful, the pool amazing, and the food, every night, beautiful. Staff were very efficient and attentive. Overall, a fabulous place to stay. Only 10 minutes from Port Vila, and the private buses that operate very efficient, at the most probably only waited two minutes before a bus was outside the resort. Used private buses for all our destinations, as much cheaper than the foreign owned agencies and the drivers very happy to take you anywhere. Only criticism of the resort would be the fact that safes are not provided in the rooms. Had a great time, and would go back again anytime.

Room Tip: Choose beach view.

My husband and i travelled with our 20 year old daughter for a 6 night stay in December. We didn't want to leave. We loved this resort, as it has no children under 15, which meant that it was very relaxing and peaceful. The resort itself is small with a superb infinity pool, overlooking the beach. Even a pool table right on the sand. We've travelled extensively and we agreed that Breakes was one of the most beautiful places we've stayed at. It's not 5 star, but has a wonderful charm and an authentic feel to it. The staff are all lovely people who always smile and say hello (as do all the locals when you pass them by). We had a beachfront bungalow (fare), at the far end of the beach away from the main pool , with our private hammock and lounge chairs (as do they all), and we sat there at night enjoying a drink looking at the superb sunsets. Don't miss the seafood buffet and the Melanesian nights - both superb, with 2 different local dance/musical groups. Also, book a dinner table on the sand one night- you don't need shoes. The snorkelling is fabulous - only about 20 metres off the beach - you need reef shoes, even to walk in the shallows. The other nights, we caught a local bus into Port Vila (only A$1.50 each one way), and ate at various restaurants. Would love to return.

Room Tip: Beachfront bungalows (fares) are the best , right near the beach. The surf is loud ,but a sound we f...

We spent 7 nights at Breakas (26 Nov to 3 Dec 2011) on our honeymoon and loved it. Being a boutique resort, we were close to everything. We enjoyed being right on the beach walking through sand to our villa and romantic dinners with our toes in the sand. The pool is well located between the restaurant and beach and we enjoyed many cocktails around the pool. The food was pretty average, but think it's a Vanuatu thing because we didn't think much of any of the restaurants in Vanuatu. The staff are very friendly and helpful and our villa was well serviced. George (the owner) went out of his way to ensure guests were happy, adding that personal touch doing the rounds at dinner each night to chat.
We would certainly go back to Breakkas.

Room Tip: We stayed in a villa (with balcony and private pool) and I think at the time the decision was due to...

I was amazed at the beauty of the resort. It is close to town without being surrounded by lots of people. The food was amazing and the accomodation was unforgetable!! We booked a package and I thought the accomodation would be pretty average, but I could not have been more wrong!! The beautiful candlelit dinner on the beach was fantastic, the staff were polite and friendly and the massage with the sound of the actual ocean was sensational. We had a free scuba diving lesson in the pool and ended up becoming certified open water scuba divers. You can also swim out about 15m to snorkel some amazing coral. We saw 2 morey eels and the variety of different fish that close to shore is breathtaking.

I got engaged whilst over there and it could not have been more perfect. We'll definately be going back for our honeymoon!!

We spent 5 nights at Breakas back in October 2010 as our Honeymoon package (I had to select Oct 2011 on the drop down as it doesn't have 2010). To this day we still speak fondly of our stay there. It's secluded, private and, most of all, QUIET! The 'no children under 16' was a very smart move too as it was so peaceful lounging by the beach and pool. We felt we were left alone which is exactly what you want on your honeymoon - I can't stand staff who hassle you. Rooms were cleaned every day and the grounds were very neat and clean. Local staff greeted you with a shy smile and chuckle - typical Vanuatu style. The food was simply amazing - the chilli coconut crab was to die for! You cannot leave without trying it. The Melanesian feast night is well worth the money as they really do put on a FEAST! As for the beach it's a bit hit and miss. We tried snorkelling but found it a bit rough - you're better off spending the day out at Hideaway Island. Also the surf break is very risky - someone actually drowned on our first day there. This is no reflection on the resort though as they can't control the tides but something to be very wary of. All in all though it was the perfect place to just disconnect and majority of the patrons there were pretty keen to do just that. We came back feeling very refreshed indeed :)

I was a bit sceptical about the resort when we first arrived - Our bus had dropped off people at the Le Lagoon Resort before it dropped us, and Breakas looks unimpressive at the entrance..
But, this was one of the best holidays I've ever had. My partner and I have no complaints whatsoever about the resort. The food, hospitality, pool, beach are all excellent!! I would've rated my experience a 5 star if the bar had stayed open beyond 9:30pm...
There are no children allowed on the resort and that made our holiday simply wonderful. The restaurant staff are very very friendly, housekeeping was extremely friendly and professional and the food was superb! You must try the coconut crab if you visit!!
We would love to go back to this place. Excellent!

Room Tip: The upgrade to a beach front fare is definitely worth the money. There is no microwave or tv in the...

We spent 10 days at Breakas recently --we found it to be a very high quality resort; like other writers we found the absence of room telephones and computer points to be very relaxing. The restaurant fare is uniformly good and the pool area is great for relaxing --like most of Vanuatu be sure to take your reef walkers for use on the coral. We would recommend it to people who would like to leave the teenagers with someone.

Room Tip: The Deluxe beach front villas where you sleep upstairs are excellent.
