We didn't stay at Breakas, however we went to the restaurant for lunch. We loved the food so much, we decided to come again the following day for dinner.
A special thanks to David, one of the staff at Breakas, who absolutely spoiled us rotten. He got us a great table for dinner, made sure there was fresh lobster for our seafood platter, organised drinks, dessert and coffees. He kept our tummies full and smiles on our faces. He truly made the holiday special for us.
We will be back just to say hello to him, our lovely new Vanuatu friend.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Breakas Beach resort twice in quick succession. It was our first 'resort' experience and easy matched our expectations.

On Xmas Eve our flight back to Australia was delayed by 12 hours. This information was not updated on our airlines website so we were at a loss to find out what was going on. I would like to say that the assistance the staff offered to help us source information was fantastic. The offer to stay at the resort until the midnight flight and the opportunity to shower before we left was much appreciated. Late that night when it looked as though the airport transfer was not going to occur the effort that the staff went to, to find out what was going on (front desk and security) was way beyond our expectations. It is experiences like these that will make us come back to Breakas.

Room Tip: The beach-front fares cost a bit more but to wake up and see the ocean was worth the extra

I am unable to review Breakas because there was no room for us despite booking and paying through Expedia for the period December 28th to January 5th. We arrived at the resort where the receptionist handed us a letter from the Manager telling us that there had been a computer problem, that we would be taken to the Holiday Inn and that a room would be available at Breakas in two days time. Another couple joined us on this transfer, as they too were in the same situation. Two days later it took the mini bus two trips to transfer those of us staying at Holiday Inn who should have been staying at Breakas back to Breakas. Our return seemed to coincide with a group of new arrivals who found themselves in the same situation as us. The receptionist was completely overwhelmed by the number of people standing at reception. An Australian woman who seemed to have some connection to the resort organised alternative accomodation for another night and the receptionist gave us the phone number of the Holiday Inn so we could organise a room for the following five nights. The day before we left Vanuatu we went back to Breakas at which point there still appeared to be problems with the booking system. The duty manager at the time assured us that Breakas would pay the Holiday Inn for our accomodation and even contacted Holiday Inn while we were there to arrange this. Unhappily I now discover that this did not happen and I have been charged by the Holiday Inn. I would have liked an opportunity to speak to the Manager about the fact that he has our money but he was nowhere to be seen.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from the most relaxing week in Vanuatu. Having not been there before we left things up to our travel agent at Flight Centre, he recommended we stay at Breakas Beach Resort, the pictures in the brochure looked nice and met with our requirements of simple but comfortable island style, thatched roof, high ceiling bungalows, pool, bar, dining, activities and entertainment, the bungalows are very comfortable with a big king size bed, fridge and tea/coffee making.
We both loved the fact that there is no phone or t.v in the bungalow, all the windows were covered with fly screens and timber slatted blinds for privacy and not one mozzie in the night! There was no aircon, but the ceiling fan worked extremely well, it just added to the experience. The enclosed outdoor shower was very nice.

From our first moment to our last the staff were friendly and accommodating in every way, you have to understand that all the staff are from the local village and trained well by the aussie management, so make your requests clear and allow for a little "island time"... it will happen with a smile every time!
The food was very good, fresh and well served, as to was the wine list, same price range as you'd expect in Sydney, but hey, where in Sydney can you eat a beef medallion with red wine jus and veggies with your feet in the sand at a lantern lit table with the sound of the waves lapping on the sand...money well spent I say!

The staff at the tour desk were so helpful with all our requirements, nothing was too much trouble, George the owner (from Aus) was onsite most days and nights, chatting with all the guests asking if everything was ok, which made everyone feel very welcome.

Ive read over the other reviews posted and I was surprised to say the least, maybe they should have gone to Bali instead...

I have travelled all over the world and I would have no hesitation going back to Vanuatu and stay at Breakas! Thanks George, we had a wonderful time.

The location was good. It's a little bit away from town (so you'll need to get a bus or cab into town) so if you like a little bit of isolation Breakas is good. We visited in mid-Jan and it was relatively quiet although our room was close to the centre of the resort and away from villages and so forth.

The food is horribly expensive (you're looking at $30 AUD for a main) and not very good. One night we had a banana fritter for dessert and it was awesome and the following night ordered the same thing and it was more batter than banana. Very inconsistent. My girlfriend ordered a meal with garlic potato mash and it was mainly garlic. Hawaiin pizza? Mainly cheese. The drinks are also very pricey, $6 for a local beer and around $15 for a cocktail, whereas in town you can get the same for half the price. The buffet breakfast wasn't great.

We ended up taking a bus into town ($1.50 AUD each way per person, 5-10 min drive) and eating there for all of our meals. Ended up eating at the Casino every day and buying bottled water and taking it back to our room.

Room Tip: Try and get something away from the edge of the resort next to villages. Try and get something clos...

Stayed there in 2011 and was OK. Stayed elsewhere in Pango 2012 up to new years eve again but visited breakas several times. Pool was dirty and service lacking. Great spot but overpriced. When we got home realized that our credit card had been scammed or mistake made. Narrowed it down to westpac ATM in foyer. Made a query to George via email and he has never responded. ATM didn't give money out so assumed just wasn't working but it took money from our account. I may be wrong and it is somewhere else but my point is no response, no care at all. Whilst a beautiful spot you can do better.

great location, great value for money. food was ok, similar to pub food back home and the breakfast in the morning was lovely. thThe room had an outdoor shower which was lovely. Was a bit shocked there were no curtians only shutters and didn't work out how to use these until the second night. Staff here were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: beach bungalows are by far the best
